I am working on potty training my two year old daughter. She has shown a lot of interest in wanting to learn. Getting the timing down has been our issue. She will sit on the potty for a good 5 minutes then get up and start playing and 5 minutes later she is peeing on the floor. We have tried the different time schedules and they have not worked for us. She will go and sit on the potty on her own if she catches herself on time, the issue is she hasn't been lately. I don't really want to get her into the whole "bribing" to use the toilet. She gets praised when she goes and it makes her happy as can be, we will occasionally paint her nails while she is sitting there for doing a good job, AND my daughter loves to "wipe" herself and we only allow her too if she actually goes. I'm looking for tips to help myself, and my daughter get onto proper timing with each other. TIA

As a mom with 5 kiddos, I've found that the timing is a developmental milestone. She'll get the timing down the more she does it. It sounds like often she does really good! I'm in the process of potty training 2 year old twins and it's been a challenge. One of them is more ready than the other. I just keep their potty chairs available and help them to get there when they say they have to go. I hope this helps!

i have to agree, i believe it's a development that will come when she's more ready. her body might not be ready tho she's mentally ready. give it a little more time.

Alot of timimg, patience, praise and be thankful it's summer time. It really is a mind/body coordination issue.
Try timing the amount of liquids she drinks starting first thing in the morning. Then wait to see how long it takes for her to need to go after she's had a certain amount of liquid to drink. You might get a feel for just how much her little bladder can hold. If you are a very busy Mommy, this could be very time consuming but might give you an idea of what she can hold and for how long. This way keeps her from going more frequently and learning when her body feels the NEED to go.
There is also the Video which I'm sure most every young Mommy and Daddy knows by heart...."Do the Potty Dance" Best of Luck to you and I Promise by the time she is 16, you will have forgotten all about the trials of potty training and wish she were 2 again... ;D

I am a firm believer of letting them run bottomless. When they see where it comes out, they run to the potty. I kept potties in the kitchen and livingroom. Even let the kids watch tv sitting on the potty, lol. My 3 kids all trained in a week. My son was over a weekend. We used potty treats, 3 MnMs, and we called people excitedly when we had success. Like calling grandma and daddy at work. Never used pull ups except for nighttime.

She keeps running in here to the potty, taking off her undies, grabbing my attention, sitting, then getting up to run off and play. She's getting the practice down. A lot of "messes" of course but not much you can do about it. The underwear has been helping my point with her that your a big girl now and big girls go in the potty haha.

I should mention...I just got my 3 year old boy potty trained and I think it could've been done earlier if I had just put underwear on him. He WON'T let himself pee in them and make a mess so now he does fine. Pull-ups definitely hindered the process.

My kids are all adults but I can still remember the excitement in their little faces when they were mastering pottie training. Some things you just never forget.

I just remembered I do have a potty training DVD...would you like it? I couldn't tell you if it's any good, we never watched it, lol. I had sent away for it (free from Pull ups or it may have come with our potty chair).
