Streator opens cooling centers Share 07/19/2011, 8:25 pm Comment on this story | Print this story | Email this story Streator Mayor Jimmie Lansford has announced the following cooling centers will be available during normal business hours for the duration of the excessive heat: Salvation Army, 126 S. Bloomington St; Bruce Township Hall, 218 N. Sterling St. and the City Hall Community Room, 204 S. Bloomington St. Ottawa officials said there are no cooling centers that they're aware of in Ottawa. mywebtimes.com/archives/ottawa/display.php?id=436853 anyone that does not have air conditioners in their homes,should go to any of the 3 places for cooling.

I was wondering when they were going to do that. I'm glad we have something like that. Thank God I have some window ac's. Unfortunately, the weather doesn't follow business hours.

it is a good idea if your central a/c went out at home, a window unit can save you from a miserable night of no sleep

I think its great that there is this option out there, but during normal business hours, Im assuming is 9-5? Im not sure about anyone elses home, but mine is the hottest from 4ish till dark, and thats with the central air running. I couldnt imagine how hot itd be without the ac. Just wondered about the people after normal business hours?
