Upon getting in my car to go to work as I do everyday, I noticed things were not quiet right. First my GPS was missing, papers all over the place and the glove box pried open. Oh what a beautiful way to start off my week. Now they took my wallet...nothing was in it but my ID and pictues of my grandkids
Now to most that might not be important, but to me it is. Now I have to get a new wallet, pay for a new DL and take time off to go get a new SSN card...and for what...you got my Kmart discount card and Kroger card...woohoo. The GPS you stole is like 6 years old and way out of touch with the planet and it has a GPS in itself so I can find it.
I have lived here for 9 months. I mind my own business and bother no one. Give me a break. And yes it was my fault for leaving my car door unlocked thinking I lived in a town I could trust....you proved me wrong. What a shocker yes I know..don't trust anyone...I got the point.
So thanks again to whomever stole the things that are worth nothing and have cost me for your sticky fingers.

It's a real eye opener when it happens. Happened to me. Yes my doors are unlocked. Quickly changed my habits and now I lock my door every time. Sorry to say but trust no one

If you lived in Streator it wouldn't of taken them 9 months.  Sorry to hear you got your Vehicle broke into.  I'm not sure why you would think Kangley was that trustworthy?  It's got problems just like every Town in America. If people live there. There will be problems.  |

i have no problems in my part of town. i even leave my doors unlocked when we are gone. maybe its because i live next to the chief of police.

Its a good town here, Im just angry at myself for leaving the door unlocked...just feel violated is all...lol oh well guess I needed a new wallet anyways

I sure am sorry to hear of this.
I would be watching out for your Identity too. ID theft seems to be a HUGE issue these days.
Make sure you have ALL of you bases covered like credit and anything else that goes along with your SS#

My car doors are locked even when I am inside of it. 3 years in Los Angeles taught me that. I really appreciate the car manufactures installing automatic door locks as soon as the car is put in gear. I wish there was some way to electrify the cars exterior to knock anyone on thier a$$ when touched.

we had that happen last summer. Turned out to be people from Bloomington. Drove down here opened all the cars and trunks they could took everything of value. But they got caught using credit cards and pawing the stuff the stole.

That is a good idea, Suzq. I was walking recently and saw a purse in a dumpster. It was my friend's purse that was stolen. Maybe you'd get your photos back, jackpot. |

Every town has problems? Society as a whole is now reaping what it began to sow 40-50 years ago. What's anyone doing to alleviate these problems? Not much. We are told to accept things as they are because our methods of discipline and education are much better and more humane and less judgemental and than they once were. That by far makes up for the inconvenience of locking everything you own down like Fort Knox and living life in a bunker-like fashion, doesn't it?
The age old methods of child rearing were beginning to be debunked at that time and the "anything goes" attitude was just getting a foothold. Teachers and school administrators were minimized to the point they no longer can teach or disipline in an effective way.
And that has brought us to present day societal realities. You must lock everything you own down solid and be on the lookout for all possible situations that may compromise your safety and it doesn't matter where you live. How do you like it? Isn't this what cultural engineers of the 60's and 70's wanted? They should be proud.
