We lost our Krystal to Blasto in 2007 a few months after we moved to Streator. She was only 14 months old. We brought her to the vet who had no idea what was wrong with her. They did tests for 3 weeks before we were told her lungs were pure white with cancer-like cells.
She started acting depressed at first. We had just given our poodle to a forever home and we thought that was why she was so sad. She started vomiting and we initially thought she got into the garbage and ate something bad. Then the diarrhea started. After over $1000 on vet bills we changed to Countryside who immediately knew the problem. They said a dose of anti-fungal medicine would have cured her weeks before, but it was too late and she didn't make it through the night. My son has her ashes and picture on a shelf in his room.
I'm so sorry, N. I know it's devastating, especially with kids.

We lost our dog Sebastian a few years ago. It also hit him real quick and he was gone in a few days. We have his ashes up on our mantle. We all still talk about him. Months after he was gone I was still walking into the backyard to play with him before I realized what I was doing. It will be hard for quite some time. I am very sorry for your loss.
