the rent at that location escalates every 6 months making it impossible to keep a thriving business there.

i think sacci is the ones that decides who does business here and who does not. every store i been to has a member plaque hanging on their wall from sacci. and the other ones i been to that are not members of sacci are the ones i see close up. if you want to do business here ,you have to join sacci.

I think that is slightly inaccurate, SACCI is all for the betterment of Streator, the businesses that do not join are the smaller newer shops that have higher overhead and less income and cant afford the membership costs. Sure they promote members businesses, what do you expect them to do, thats why people pay to belong. From SACCI website: www.streatorchamber.com/Our Mission "To provide value to our members through advocacy, leadership and service by enhancing the economic climate of our business community." As the City of Streator's premiere organization, [glow=red,2,300]task to attract new employers and assist local companies[/glow], the Streator Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry takes great pride in utilizing our long-standing, close relationships with local government and business to promote economic growth and support.

I'm not sure if that location is good for any businesses. I remember having Domino's there and a couple of other that had attempted to have something there and don't last.

I heard that the landlord changed the locks on them. Must have been late on the rent or something. Don't know if it's true though.
