I hope they do since that is the law of my car anyways. Don't care how old you are, front or back seat. You ride with me you have a seat belt on or my car don't move.

well they won't know if one is wearing in the back seat if they have an older model vehicle. the seat belts in the back seat on older models are lap belts and not shoulder belts.

...CHICAGO — Illinois drivers and passengers need to buckle up because Gov. Pat Quinn on Monday signed a new Illinois law requiring everyone riding in a vehicle to wear their seat belts.
“We want to save lives and this legislation is important to doing that,’’ Quinn said at a bill-signing ceremony in Chicago.
The new law requiring everyone to wear their seatbelts goes into effect Jan. 1. Currently, people riding in the front seat of a vehicle have to wear their seat belts, but people in the back seat are only required to be belted in if they are under 18.

I approve of this law makes me happy. Now people riding in my car can't throw at me "it's not against the law to have to wear a seat belt in the backseat"

In my car, wear a seat belt or get out and walk. My car does not move until everyone is buckled in. Seat belts were placed in the car to be in not on.

no more packing 3 in the front and 4 in the back!
I agree to an extent though. For children under the age of 18. as an adult it should be MY CHOICE if I want to wear my seatbelt. Are they going to take away my choice to eat Brocoli or not next?

driving is a privilege, not a right. there is nothing in the constitution that says you have the right to not wear a seatbelt.
anything that has to do with a vehicle is a privilege, not a right.

My 2006 Impala has shoulder belts in the rear seat for 3 passengers. I bought this special so there are 3 seat belts in the front. The middle front only is a lap belt. The front seat is called a 60/40 seat. It is a 6 passenger vehicle.
Some small cars have only 4 seat belts. 2 in the front and 2 in the back.
Question? I see people riding in the rear bed of a pick up truck. Is this legal? I never hear of getting a ticket for riding in a pick up.
I know lift trucks in factories have seat belts today. Do riding lawn mowers need seat belts?

I'm really really surprised Illinois doesn't have a helmet law for motorcycles.
Also I believe it is illegal to ride in the back of a pickup

Driving is a right. a right that requires a licence but stilll a right. what I do in my car that I OWN and PAY TAXES and STATE REQUIRED INSURANCE on is my own d**n business. Me not wearing a seatbelt does not endanger anyone. If I drive recklessly yes that does. seatbelt has not bearing on others on the road.

I'm really really surprised Illinois doesn't have a helmet law for motorcycles. Also I believe it is illegal to ride in the back of a pickup they do not enforce this law in town there is suppose to be a helmet law on the books already. 16yrs ago my brother was cited by the local police for not wearing a helmet and told him it was state law.
