So, as I was walking into Kmart, just about 15 minutes ago, I noticed a SAFEPLACE sign on the outside wall. I always new it was OK to drop off infants at your local Police, Fire Dept's and Hospitals......BUT KMART?
So go ahead, drop off your child in the childrens section, set them down in one of the strollers that maybe on display and MAYBE a KMART employee will notice it there in the next 24 hours. KMART?..I cant fathom it.

I have never noticed that. But I have noticed these signs elsewhere, and they are informational. They direct what to do, to find a safeplace. Could that have been what this was?

It makes sense to me.
Some women may feel that even though they can drop their baby off at the police station/hospital etc. that they will still face legal trouble.
Thats why places like KMART and Walmart have agreed to become safe places. Women can walk in and hand their baby to an employee and walk away without consequence. I think its better than moms who dont want their babies and kill them.
I can understand the shock of OUR kmart though. I believe the staff members are informed they must contact the police immediately.

SAFE HAVEN is where to drop infants with no questions!!!
SAFE PLACE is being run by the Youth Service Bureau! It is a program where children, teens, or adults can go if they are in fear of going home, being bullied, anything! The managers have been through a training on what to do if someone comes in asking for help. They call the Youth Service Bureau!!!

Please I don't see why if they don't want the baby they just don't give it up for adoption at the hospital. You have your whole pregnancy to decide if you wanna keep that baby or not. I don't understand why so many women reproduce over and over again just to either have an abortion, or continually give your children away. (Some situations I understand) I have always thought it would be a marvelous idea that after so many abortions, or after giving a kid up for adoption so many times that they should have to get themselves fixed. Sex no matter what the debate people may lay is meant to reproduce. No form of birth control is 100 percent and we all know this. So don't do the deed if you don't wanna have the adult responsibilities. My view is a little harsh yes, but it's also common sense. These are lives we are talking about not a toy you buy at the store and decide you don't like it so you return it with your receipt.

E&C's Mom- I understand where you are coming from but there are some women who suffer from severe post partum depression and cannot handle the stress that comes along with a newborn. I would much rather these women drop the baby off at a save haven then take their frustration out on the child.

Like I said some exceptions I understand, my post was mainly for the woman out there that CONSTANTLY reproduce and do it. You don't even wanna get me started on the women that reproduce just to get welfare and assistance.
