What happened to them? Hubby & son went down to watch them, & no one was there.

Did they all sink? Maybe we should drag the river.

Where are they putting in the water and where can they be watched from?

i don't remember ever seeing cardboard float on water. i always see them sink as soon as you put it in the water.

This was a really big deal and a lot of fun to watch when I was going to S.I.U. back in the mid to late 70's......but to be successful, you need a fair amount of time to get one of these seaworthy....is not something you can just throw together and expect to last for the duration...I don't know when they announced they will have this race, but I just remember seeing it in the paper last week I think.

Only one was unable to start the race due to a lack of sea-worthiness. One experienced severe structural problems half way through, but the couple seemed determined to finish the race, in the water, clinging to the remnants of a vessel. There were about eight teams total. We followed along the water's edge, but did not see the finish. The green boat had a distinct lead the last that I saw. It was fun just watching.

My wife and youngest daughter watched that. My daughter especially had a blast watching them. She wants to particpate in that next year.
