Are you talking about The Country Cupboard?
A lot of restaurants have seen a rise in their prices because of the pandemic. Changes are bound to happen under new ownership. Given that this past year has been difficult for the restaurant industry, perhaps a little forgiveness is in order as they find their footing.

Given that this past year has been difficult for the restaurant industry, perhaps a little forgiveness is in order as they find their footing. Went there because of the friendly staff. The Mendoza kids just aren't as friendly. We've found the former staff scattered through out the other restaurants. We seek them out, request them when we can, and tip well.

Agree with you "nessun". Just because someone purchases a business doesn't mean the business will still be there. If the personality of the business isn't the same as the previous owner that business could be in trouble. Look how many times the restaurant on 12th and Park changed names and owners. I wouldn't say price changes would be the determining factor in losing business if the quality of the food was the same. We haven't visited any restaurants in Streator since all the commotion but we did enjoy a meal at Olive Garden in Peoria. Also, I've seen many a time when a tavern sells to another and the business isn't always the same. I truly believe the personality of the owner means more than anything.

Sometimes the help or even that 1 or 2 special employee's can carry the day for them tho.

Too bad it has been under new ownership for about the past year. Things just aren't the same. Some foods aren't the same and the prices have gone up some. Not many customers in there thru out the days anymore. Aside from other comments, many restaurants haven't opened up, but they're surviving on to-go, carry-outs & delivery. Support our local businesses!

I admit that I have only ate there twice in my lifetime. So, I can’t comment on the staff, current or past.
I get why people are loyal to good service from friendly people. We have favorite restaurants and make a point in going on the days our faves are working.
I have seen notices in other places about the rising costs will be reflected in their prices.

Just like our household expenses, utilities, gas, and food have been increasing, so have businesses. Even Dollar Tree isn’t a dollar anymore 🤷🏻♀️

To me, it doesn't matter if a business is local or not. If the food is terrible and the service is bad, I won't support them just because they are local.

Their prices have again been raised. When it costs $16.00 for dinner, it's time to go elsewhere What did you order?

Their prices have again been raised. When it costs $16.00 for dinner, it's time to go elsewhere What did you order? According to their menu, the most expensive item is the full dinner grilled pork chop which comes with choice of potato, vegetable and salad, and soup or juice, a dinner roll and either a brownie or ice cream for dessert for $14.25. If you go with the light dinner instead of full, I think it said choice of potato, vegetable, and soup or salad. It still comes with dessert for $10.25. Sounds reasonable for meat, potato, vegetable, salad, soup, roll and brownie. 🤷🏻♀️

A trip to the grocery store brings higher prices each time I go.

If a person doesn't like the food or prices I don't understand why you come to a public forum to complain. don't patronize it again but let others decide for themselves. I like the place being discussed and frequent it weekly.
