LOL, First time the Judge rejected me after telling me I shouldn't think like I did. My only response was, "Well, should I lie to you?" Second time, not needed, unlike Dave, it didn't bother me much. Third time, actually got picked, went into the courtroom, defendant walked in, talked to his Lawyer, judge sent us away for a few, we got word that the Defendant looked at is and decided his plea deal was the way to go.......... Fourth time, services not needed........ All in all, I don't mind local service, not too sure I would appreciate Federal Grand jury service, I am sure they could find someone closer to that chithole Chicago than I am....... Dave, if I ever get selected, can I hire you to do my service? Oh yea, remember, Jury Nullification, works for me........ AHAHAHA...sounds pretty much like my track record when serving. Seems that everytime I go to enter the courtroom I get a huge hug from Streator's Jimmy M. guarding the door. Of course it doesn't help knowing any of the police officers, or the lawyers..as far as being picked on the jury. Grand Jury though on the other hand...scares the crap outta me. My son in law had to serve on the Grand Jury for a full week commuting back and forth. Noooooooooooooo thanks! I agree SNIPE..summon closer people! M

I saw Ron White on TV the other night doing his "I got thrown out of a bar in New York City" bit. It is still so funny. B-4 Dallas County got their act together and had jurors work all day, I would go up to the head guy and say "Does having a citation book exempt me?" I was home by noon back then.

I have never been called for jury duty. How is that possible? Do you have a drivers license? It seems to be random as well, they claim you can't be called any sooner than 3 years between times, but I documented them calling me in 3 times in 5 years., So the system isn't always exact.

Like Sniper said. Every three years.(They say) I thought they chose from who voted, but using the DL, sounds right.

I have been called up three times, but only reached the Voir Dire stage once. I could tell by looking at the plaintiff's table that it was a personal injury case. PI lawyers have a certain look. I had indicated on the questionnaire, that I had been injured in a car wreck when I was in high school. The judge asked me if I had "sued." I replied: "Judge, in those days, people didn't sue their friends. The PI lawyers used one of their peremptory challenges to get rid of me.

I got involved in a law suit w/ an insuance co. none of us have ever heard from. I tried to cut my thumb off on a table saw when I was making furniture around 1975. The shop I was working for had this insurance and they did pay my medical bills and a great Dr. saved my thumb. But,I was working two or three other jobs and needed money to get by while I healing up enough to work somewhere. "And then the fight began". My boss, a great guy and pulitzer prise winner, who wanted a hobby/furniture shop was pretty much out of the loop. I had to hire an lawyer after six months of waiting for them to settle this case. I think I got about $1400 bucks, It wass a year too late. I asked my bro, the MBA, what to do w/ it. (Invest?) After he was done laughing at me, I put it in the savings. It really soured me on PI cases and the way I was treated like a dumb piece of meat by both Attys and the judge. The check was cut to my lawyer, not me. I had to get my share from him. Crazy.

I was on one once & it was a drug charge. We weren't determining guilt or not, we sat thru several demos by prof. & were supposed to vote on if it was a specific drug or not!

I am a registered voter, and yes, I have and have always had a legal, never suspended, drivers licence. I just think it's unrealistic that I've never, not once, been called. I know you can request to serve, according to some on here. My mom used to get called all the time. Lol, I'm probably one of the few that want to be called, that hasn't been. So, anyone else NEVER receive a summons?

In my honest opinion, I think that the court system should use the homeless people and the people that are on public aid to do the juror duty. Since they don't have jobs. Instead of calling upon people that have to take time off from work to go for juror duty. Usually people that get called to juror duty make more money working than going to juror duty. I'm sure that people that are homeless would like that $15 for a meal. Just a thought.
