The tea party stands up for your constitutional rights! how can you not support that? Former government employees can't bite the hands that feed them yet CP. Once all of us are drained dry and the money dries up they will understand maybe..

Dave, The reason I don't post as often as I once did is there is no point. Best of luck to you. After reading an article in the Chicago Tribune Sec. 1, Page 3, 8/14/14, by Rex W. Huppke, stating a "..new McClatchy-Marist poll found that 25 percent of registered voters nationally identified themselves as Republicans. And only 40 percent of those Republicans say they support the tea party. That gives you a sense of scale." I'll let the Repblicans fight it out with the "tea party". I'll continue to make certain EVERY citizen eligible to vote, has the I.D. needed and is properly registered and IS NOT denied of that right. Oh, and when they get into that booth they can vote any way they wish. g

NO DUM DAVE! I am NOT part of the Tea Party. DUH?? I think DD was responding to CPs post, NOT you! Now, as to the sheriff I have a few Q's for you. You posted this, "So Come out on August 30th 2PM and listen to LIVINGSTON COUNTY SHERIFF ELECT Tony Childress and you will hear his eye witness account of what he learned at the border July 2014. Related to the drug traffic, and how it affects our communities in Lasalle Count. SOMEONE has to take some leadership! I am glad he did." Ottawa, Illinois 901 Lasalle Street American legion Illinois 16th Congressional District Town Hall. 1) Is he a Sheriff OR Sheriff "Elect?" 2) *IF* he's running for sherrif in Liv. Co., why is he hosting a meet. in LaSalle Co.? 3) WHY did you say a sheriff went to the border, when in fact you're posting him as a sheriff "Elect?" 4) Are you his PR person? If so, you may want to keep some things straight, If I lived in Liv. Co., with these kinds of dicrepancies, I wouldn't vote for him!

If so, you may want to keep some things straight, If I lived in Liv. Co., with these kinds of dicrepancies, I wouldn't vote for him! From what I read he was acting Sheriff in 2013 and they moved him down to Chief Deputy when he decided to run for office. He beat out 3 others in the Republican Primary and since there doesn't appear to be another candidate running against him in the November election, it is a pretty safe bet that he will be the Sheriff. At this point, I would consider him the Sheriff -Elect also. I think it would make good sense to host the meeting in LaSalle County. The Illinois Valley area where he is having the meeting would reach a lot more people and since I would imagine that most of the drugs, etc, would be flowing out of LaSalle County and into his county, he might feel it would be prudent to try to stop it at the source.

Sorry, but I disagree. Pontiac would be more centrally located for the Liv. Co. residents. Why should the voters have to travel further? He could have a separate meet w/law enf. agencies, including neighboring counties/ISP etc.
As for the drugs, they're in every city AND the interstate they should be watching is I-55. We know from exp., that most of the drug trafficking comes to LaSalle Co. via I-80, so ....

From what I derived from the OP it is a town hall meeting for the 16th Congressional District and they are against the incumbent Adam Kinzinger. Could a faction opposing Kinzinger be hosting it and invited Tony Childress to speak regarding the border problems being he has first hand insight to the problem ?
Tony is an upstanding lawman, his own party basically threw him under the bus in the primary to the point of bringing a former sheriff out of retirement to run against him. Their plan backfired and Tony won by a sizeable margin. He was acting sheriff when Meredith resigned but they demoted him to Chief Deputy when they decided to run a candidate against him. Interestingly enough the candidate the Republicans produced to run against him announced who was going to be his Chief Deputy and it wasn't Tony, so they clearly had plans to try and shove him out of the dept.
I would like to hear his account of the border problems and see just how many lies the Obama administration and news outlets are feeding to us.
