What can you do about Feral Cats. We have many in our neighborhood but 2 are hanging in my neighbors bushea and used to go in their attic to keep warm. They are always looking for food.
Will animal control catch them?
They won't get close to a human and run away if you walk toward them.

The ACO should catch them with a live trap...if they are a nuisance. Otherwise you could befriend them, feed them...and then one by one take to get spayed and neutered, and given to Pet Project or the Humane Society to be re-homed. Good luck.............. M

COntact Spay It Forward, NFP. It's too late for spaying/nuetering, until the spring, but there are posts about how to make shelters for them. www.facebook.com/SpayItForward About Ending overpopulation starts with spaying/neutering within the community, we cannot "adopt out of overpopulation" Company Overview Providing no-cost, high-quality spay/neuters to feral colonies and owners in need of assistance. Description No cost spay/neuter available to LaSalle County residents, as we have no County program to assist the animals. Email spayitforwardnfp@yahoo.com Website www.spayitforwardnfp.org

Most shelters will take them, but they will be euthanized. The only way to stop feral colonies is by spaying and neutering them, eventually breaking them up. Feed & build warms homes for them. Very young ones can be tamed to live in homes.

The sad reality of feral cats is, they're often nowhere near friendly enough to become pets due to lack of socialization...They often have serious health conditions upon examination, which is why so many are humanely euthanized.. If they are caught when they are very young, they can be as normal as any other cat...But, more often than not, by the time they're out and can be seen, they've already learned aggressive behavior from other ferals...

Might want to look into it further...Strays typically aren't aggressive, ferals are...This provides information on dealing with both... www.alleycat.org/strayorferal

My house cat does not like strangers petting him...he hits them for him that's the only way he can protect himself from danger...in his eyes strangers trying to pet him is danger...

Feral cats can be tamed it just takes time and effort. We have one and we would trade her for anything. She still has her moments but she's the best d@mned cat we've ever had.

Wasn't "my" site...But it would behoove folks to research BEFORE posting...Having dealt with feral cats myself, one that literally stalked AND attacked house cats, I would stand by what the site said - they ARE aggressive...
