The 60 or so teabaggers with the our way or nothing attitude. If the members of the Tea Party had the attitude that you claim they have, they WOULDNT have voted for the bill that was passed. Only a very few of them took that attitude along with ALL the democrats.

Of course I am serious, most of the Tea Party members compromised to get the bill passed. Compromising does not equate to an our way or nothing attitude, does it? Sorry, had to edit the word "all" out and put the "our way" in so as not to confuse you.

What compromise, the idea that they decided to basically end social security and medicare in six months instead of on Monday?

Dont buy into that argument about SS and medicare ending on Monday if the debt ceiling wasnt raised. The governemt and companies are trying to control you by putting fear into you. I think if the debt ceiling doesnt get raised by the deadline, the US isnt going to collapse, we may take a hit, but we will just have to work harder to get our AAA rating back. Some of our bills wont get paid, but most would. I think it would make for a good wake up call. Now, its off to the drive in to check out the cars and have a Root Beer.

You forgot to tell us what our foreign investors, our states, cities and municipalities, our money markets. our Pension Trusts, ect. will think after tanking them too. I don't know northsider. I don't think dog has a handle on reality yet, and it's better you buy into it all you want. Besides, I do believe we've already been warned the US is going to lose it's AAA rating regardless, as we have already fraudulently abused it and earned the downgrade.

The reality is that the sun will more than likely rise the next day, and we will do what we have to do. A triple A rating is not like virginity, with hard work the US could regain its AAA status if we were to lose it.

With our escalating burdon of debt how could we have ever deserved a triple A rating in the first place.....Donald Trump couldn't get a loan if he was as irresponsible as our government.......

Really? Have you counted the times Trump was trumped with bankruptcy? But after so many times, you'll lose your credit rating from your investors.

If you don't think things are bad enough now and we don't have a deep dark enough hole to emerge from, I can promise you it will get much worse if we lose our AAA credit rating. But you're right that losing our AAA rating is not like losing our virginity. We've already lost $trillions when we crashed in 2008. It will be "fun" to lose $trillions more when we lose that AAA rating. Even if we lose our AAA rating, you're also right about the sun still coming up the next day. It always does.

Friday 11PM-In the U.S. Senate, the Senate Majority Leader is now filibustering his own bill. Senate Republicans offered to vote on it tonight. Knowing he would lose if the vote happened tonight, he declined, instead setting a vote for 1am Sunday morning.
Update provided by Rand Paul.
