Is anyone else having problems with their internet? Seems I have to reboot at least once, sometimes more, every time I want to watch tv. I got frontier no problems. But mediacom customers will all have to have mediacom internet service when they switch over to streaming at the end of this year. They told me they are doing away with cable and everyone that has a cable box has to turn them in and switch to an internet streaming box connected to their internet modem to watch TV with. They will mail you the new box and you have to call to have a tech come and hook it up and activate it. So people that Don't have internet will have to have cable internet service to continue watching TV. Frontier I hear has sold out to t mobile so I expect to pay around $400.00 a month for 2 internet service providers. One for tv and the other for internet use.

We stream everything. Have for about two years or more. We have satellite internet and pay $79.99 a month. It’s been more reliable than Mediacom or Frontier ever was for us in town.

Would you mind telling me who you have for you internet please We have Clearsky Internet. I’m not sure if in town is part of their coverage but it is where we live, a few miles outside of town.

You stated in an above post you have satellite internet. Clearsky is NOT satellite internet, it is a radio signal based broadband system. I had them for several years and it kept going out on Fri. evening and wouldn't come back on until Mon. morning so I dropped them. The only 3 satellite providers that actually own their own satellites are ViaSat, HughesNet, and Starlink. Had ViaSat(formerly Exede) for over 9 years and went to Starlink when it became available in this area. It sucks but not as bad as the other 2 providers.

We couldn’t get HughesNet. Their coverage stopped before it made its way to our property. We have had nothing but reliable service from Clearsky. I have zero complaints. The only time we have had spotty service with them is on an extremely windy day. I would take them over Mediacom or Frontier any day. Never once experienced the issue like you describe.

Conxxus who is installing fiber optic in Streator right now plans on servicing some of the rural areas. If you plug your address in at their website it will let you fill out your contact info in you are interested. Their pricing is in line with what you are paying now and it will be much faster than Clearsky, 1 Gig is around $80/month. Starlink is the fastest of the satellite providers and it is $120/mo. with $600 worth of equipment, speed gets stupidly slow during peak times. I have ran as high as 250 mbps. in the middle of the night but in the evening is runs around 25 mpbs. conxxus.com/

No thanks careless or malicous?

Since this post Clearsky’s service sucks. It’s been down so much lately. I really had no problems for the last 11 months. Now, it’s down more than it’s up. Which is costing me, and others who use their service to work at home, money. I’m afraid if I switch I could end up with worse service.

Don't even consider Hughesnet or ViaSat satellite, they are too slow.

It’s so frustrating. Seriously, it was the best internet for the first year we had it and then it’s garbage. So unreliable.

The only problem I have with mediacom is they keep jacking the rate a couple bucks every month. Knowing there is a company coming in that will charge less you would think they would stay competitive.
