What are your thoughts on the council opposing this.. Personally I grew up on a farm and think if they were in a fence and you had a nice hut for them I wouldn’t care. I also live within a block of the train tracks so noise isn’t an issue either.

Streatorstuff would be full of complaints of loose dogs attacking hens. Or walkers being attacked by pecking hens 😂

Streator has an ordinance that prohibits farm animals in the city. Always been an ordinance. Just never enforced.

They don't add anything to the mix unless you are trying to hatch eggs. My motto was if it ain't laying, it ain't staying. My ladies appreciated the peace as well.

A good rooster is a dead one. People buy an alarm clock. We don't need to hear a rooster crowing at the crack of dawn before daylight. Been wanting to catch the fellow by me off ottercreek to get rid of his rooster since he is in the city anyway.

Roosters protect the flock. Never seen so many people whine about everything and then wonder why we have nothing.

i think that many bought their chicks before they banned them. The article states there were 10 families in town with chickens but I think that total went up drastically before Wednesday. if people were responsible i wouldn't have any problem with them having chickens. there are so many irresponsible dog owners now that it would probably just add to the problems we already have in town.

LOL, never saw a Rooster that didn't think he was protecting the flock..........only problem is they were all legends in their own minds........ Come to think about it, they must have been Democrats. If loud squawking and boisterous strutting were effective, we wouldn't be in the problem we are.......

I would like to applaud the Village of Kangley board members for allowing chickens in the community.

We have chickens. Just got them. We don’t live in town anymore tho but live on a farm. I think chickens should be allowed in town. But then, my former neighborhood was filled with responsible homeowners that took care of their properties and their pets. (Well, all except one rental house with out of state landlords.).
Our chickens are going to lead a good life out here. They are already starting to show their personalities. We do plan on getting a rooster at some point. We want to hear him crowing at sunrise. 😂 Since our noisy rusty beautiful windmill annoys one nearby resident, might as well throw a rooster into the mix, too. 😂

I lost several to of all things, raccoons. I told my daughter there was no way one was climbing an interior wall of the barn to get into it, sure enough not only did I have a rogue coon, it was climbing the interior wall at night and having a meal......... needless to say, war was declared on the coons as soon as I put the chicken wire up over the openings.
