Dip, one would be a blatant fool to open a business in this poverty stricken community. 73% poverty rate in the town's schools & woodland also getting free lunches, a private funded adventure would be money loosing adventure. The only well paying incomes are illegal & not worth the risk. Although they do flourish in town, do to no law enforcement. Keep the "chump" change rolling in.

I gave a negative review of my experience at the Big Dipper. It was an honest review, no insults or cheap shots. I took heat for posting on here but the reason I did so was because this topic was the reason for my wife and I to give them a try. Our dissatisfaction was quickly dismissed by other posters and by the owner himself. With that response, my wife and I decided we would not give them a second chance. I have no ill will towards MM and for the most part do enjoy his posts on here. We just choose to partake in our ice cream elsewhere.

Spell chek, that's cool, not everyone is the same. The difference is you had a clear post, without animus, and lets face it, not everyone on here is unbiased, so being different sometimes opens one up to unfair abuse.
Don't change, we need honest discourse!

this is getting old cityslicker. if you don't care to patronage maskedman`s ice cream business so be it but there are others that do like his ice cream. you have made your point so lets move on. i think it is nice this man is making a go of it and not sitting around complaining about streator all the time. even if his business is a small venture there is one less empty building with weeds growing up and boarded up windows.

They aren't local investors, national & international. The local investors had a chance at an ethanol plant & we see how far that got. The super dairy stores & prairie farm ice cream are gone - the novelty business - must be a tough sell.

When anyone can sell a good product at a reasonable price. They will succeed. Yes. It's that simple.

the streator police beat in the paper today was filled with plenty of news. Yes, it does seem that there has been more listed for Streator in the police log over the last few days. Police made contact with an intoxicated subject at 8:59 p.m.Tuesday at 2415 N. Bloomington St. and gave him a ride out of the area.Where do you suppose "out of the area" is? Is there some type of "intoxicated subject" dump site somewhere outside of Streator?

Have you started using your drive through yet? I was picking up tools from my uncles the other day, and wanted to buzz through, but I had dirt all over my top from cradling an armful of cukes that they sent me home with.

I didn't know one could purchase a hand dipped cone from from a prairie farm truck. I was referring to the brick & mortar building on main, that served ice cream out of a freezer . Small time operators are only a brief sizzle in the pan & soon are forgotten. Stick to your day job.

Thanks HC, yup, we have a drive thru window on the South side of the building. We are not fully staffed to do a lot of business out of both the walk up window and the drive up window simultaneously, but we take orders there. No problem if you don't want to get out. Good to know. Last time we had asked, it appeared that you didn't use it, and that no one would notice a vehicle over there. Thanks for the response

I did it! I took my daughter to the Big Dipper last night just before the shower. I had that turtle sundae! My girl had fruit drinks. But she tasted my sundae and said that it was the best soft serve ice cream she had ever tasted. I agree. No wonder people from outside of town come by.

The more you pop off here & on the Times Press site, w/all your negative BS, the more peeps will go elsewhere w/their lawn mower business, getting tired of your attitude! Word DOES get around! WTH DID you get such an attitude anyway?
