I am not sure, but I think he is posting under the name southsideman. It appears he hasn't been online in over a week. I thought the same thing & maybe he's busy getting ready to open for the season?

Thanks for all the kind words and inquiries. I have not posted much anymore. I think the account got hacked and computer infected so I have avoided SOL. The earliest we have opened in the past is April 1st, and middle of the month is typical. We were down there working today, we are getting closer, maybe by this Friday. My Wife works full time and so do I, so it really is a labor of love. We enjoy it, and all of you. And thanks to all of you it gets a little better every year. Thank you all. Just bear with us a little longer. We want to get a few more things done. It's just hard to get projects done once we start for the season. P.S.....health is fine Thank You, so is my other half, that one is totally bogus. Thanks again everyone, keep watching.....soon. I can't promise anything because we simply don't have a firm date yet. There's always a lot of BS coming from her & hubby! LOL! Good Luck & I'll be waiting patiently for treats!

Plus the place there is the only place in Streator that I know that offers marshmallow coke. The only other place that has that is that candy shop in Wenona.

Don't forget that they have some nice shaded picnic tables there so you can eat your ice cream while it is still FRESH. That is the best way to eat ice cream, especially in you are a "Northsider" like me.

They make GREAT ice cream. Try a blizzard from them NOK. Thanks so much Dave, it's the LOVE, you can taste it. Seriously though, we are lucky to have some good mix, it's real dairy, not reconstituted powdered non-dairy mystery product. Also a little fact about ice cream, it's in large part AIR. In the industry, it's called overrun, that's the amount of air that's mixed in. When you are in the grocery, notice how light some of the cheap ice cream is, it has high overrun. Some soft serve may be up to 40% air. Good for the operators profits, not so good for the consumer. It has less taste and melts readily, that's why they boost up the sweet taste to try to compensate for all the air and still give you some flavor, but it is generally lacking that satisfying dairy taste, the creaminess. Sorry folks, not trying to toot our own horn too much, just educate the public some. Both the other places do a great job in town too, they have been at it a long time. We are just providing an option out South (we need some options out here) and glad to have you stop out here sometimes. Thanks again for all the kind words and support. The business does get a little better every year, both in terms of volume of business and the quality of product served. (that home made brownie delight is really hard to beat) It's not easy to have a business grow in Streator in a tough economy, but thanks to all of you, here we are, still serving ice cream. ALSO: We are participating in this year's WARRIOR CARD. Present it for discounts on our deluxe Sundaes. It supports WHS class of 16'. I don't know if they have sold out or not. Get one, they are also good at the other 2 ice cream shops, 3 cents off every gallon of gas you purchase from Circle K, and lots of other great local participating merchants that are supporting our community. I have 2 "Qs" for you. #1 Do you have any future plans for Gelato? I know you can't keep many flavors, but a lemon is great for thirst in the summer. #2 Have you thought about having a Sorbet? Another one w/little flavors. Maybe a berry? BTW< I looked for the Woodland Card & couldn't find it. *Sigh
