Give it time and Xmas Will be banned before Obama leaves Office. Some states out west already Banned Xmas lights and decor outside And California banned merry Christmas. You can only say happy holidays in that state. I am curious why you are worried about Christmas fading away, when you cant respect it enough by calling it xmas, instead of Christmas?

I have too agree with Rocket, it has everything to do with the topic ''Christmas Decorations'' He is just giving a heads up about another thing that could be taken from us around our parts of the country.

Rocket, most eyes are wide shut as you can see, people rather not be informed of any problems as you can also see. just sit idle, this way you wont be shunned away. Keep in mind also that most on here voted twice for this guy, but they will say they didn't, all you have to do is read many post of different ones on here and that is proof enough.

So, those that say, too early. Do you think those that put up Christmas decorations before thanksgiving, don't celebrate thanksgiving? I decorate as early as my schedule permits. But thanksgiving is NOT forgotten. No, I dont think that people dont celebrate Thanksgiving, nor do I think they forget about Thanksgiving. For me, I think it is about keeping the holidays in order, calendar wise. I do think that starting to celebrate the Christmas season too early, diminishes the spirit of Christmas. By the time Christmas actually gets here, I am sorta burned out over it. It just seems like some people really have their underwear in a bunch over it. And I've heard numerous people say, that thanksgiving is being forgotten/overlooked. I bet most of those that decorate big, and early, have just as big of a thanksgiving. Except they can enjoy theirs relaxed, knowing that they've already got everything ready for Christmas. Just how I look at it.

some families have a thanksgiving tradition that includes putting up the Christmas tree and decorations on the holiday. I usually try to get my outside decorations up before the ground freezes and the temps are somewhat warmer.

We put ours up usually the first or second weekend after Thanksgiving. That's when the pumpkin/fall decor gets put away and the Christmas stuff comes out.

I hope some of streator's finest ,stole the gaudy old decorations that have been displayed in the past, at city park. Ottawa, Illinois has a far better display and the whole town looks great. Streator is third rate and sinking fast, and even copies their bumpout theme.

Park always looks great and those who put in their time and work to get it all up do a great job.

How can you even compare Ottawa to Streator? Ottawa has tons of money coming in, it's the County seat. Weird that Streator always red lines the spelling?? A registered town should not red line.

Chevy, you are correct . There is no comparison, ottawa is a class act. Streator has hoodlums stealing the lights and people have to guard the displays. One should let the gaudy decorations be stolen or take them over to michael's recycling. You can't polish a turd.

Looks like the local derelicts are at it again before the displays are even lit Hope they catch them, hanging them in City Park by their feet and letting the Light Up Streator workers use them as Pinatas' would be fitting I want a turn.

on the Streator police Facebook account it was stated they had already caught the two kids that did the vandalism. I see the new security cameras in the city park work better.

Then the general public. They really should be handcuffed in the center of the park, on display. At least their mug shots. So everyone knows who the thugs are.
