The problem is that the lazy, lying and theiving seem to get protected. The union chooses which battles they fight for. I have a long-time best friend who lives in Streator. He was a big time union leader for a long time. Years ago, when our two families were having dinner, we got into a discussion about unions and who they should support. My friend expressed the view that the union should not support slugs in grievances. I told him that he was not doing his job if the union did not support all of its members to the full extent. Our discussion got very heated, and my wife became worried. I had told her that my friend was a really good street fighter, and had fought in the Golden Gloves. As in all such arguments between friends, no blows were exchanged. However, I believed then and now, that a union should give total support to its members. So what you're saying is, it's okay that you have to do twice the work, because someone is too lazy to do their share? That if you steal from the company you work for, you should still have a job there? That one worker's rights, outweigh the majority worker's rights?
