Because back in the late 80's it was voted in. It can only be done away with by a vote in an election after getting petitions signed. Then there must also be another form of government added to the proposal. Such as, Shall the City of Streator eliminate the City Manager form of government and switch to Full Time Mayor and council? Some of those cities you listed have full time mayors or more staff than we do. Ottawa's Mayor makes around $85,000 plus benefits and is a lawyer on the side. Pontiac has a City Administrator. thank you

I have not read the entire thread. Over the last 2 years, I have had to get several police reports. I, was never charged for one of them. I, was told, they only charge if it is over so many pages. It was not a car accident, so not sure if that makes a difference or not. But, I have never been charged or had a problem.

I was in the Police station this morning(enjoying a very good FREE service for landlords to check out prospective tenants) and saw the poster for the corporation profiting from your unfortunate circumstances. The poster has a map of some non-descript city with an arrow pointing to one side of the city that says "The Police station, where your accident report is" and another arrow on the other side of the city that says "The comfort of your home". Then it asks, where you'd rather get your report and answers "We thought so"
I thought of you maskedman. Isn't it nice how they make it out like their profiting off of your misfortune is doing some fantastic service allowing you to just stay in the comfort of your home? Does that make you feel better? Making you feel better must have been their intention with the poster since it's not like you have any choice other than using their "service", don't you think? Maybe they should advertise their stock there instead. Sorry for your unfortunate incident, but buy our stock and you can profit from the unfortunate incidents in other people's lives too!
It is just one more reduction in services by the City of Streator. As more and more people leave our community and our real estate loses more and more value, our City loses more and more revenue, so much that just raising taxes every year doesn't cover it, they have to keep finding more and more ways to reduce expenses (services). They couldn't actually raise your taxes, but really want AC at City Hall. They probably really appreciate your $15 contribution to their comfort though.

Then it asks, where you'd rather get your report and answers "We thought so" I think it is a good idea that the "option" exists to get it online. My time is much more valuable than having to waste it by going to the police station to get a report, THEN taking it to my insurance agent. You ever bought tickets from Ticketmaster? They charge a fee to buy tickets online. Sure beats the time wasted to go to a Ticketmaster, waste some gas and possibly stand in line to buy tickets. With all that being said, the system IS screwed up. The online thing should be an OPTION, not a requirement and should be available at the police station to, so as to accommodate the people without computers or just want to go to the police station. I also think a $5-$10 fee would be more acceptable. I also give MM a pat on the back for questioning it and bringing it to the attention of the Attorney General or anyone who can fix it. I am also fairly confident that there wont be multiple posts and pages from him constantly bringing it up here. Good job MM for setting a fine example.

this is something like the franchise fee we pay on our utilities. has anyone questioned why we are charged 5.00 franchise fees each month? we pay that to the city to allow the utilities have exclusive control in the city limits.

How many of you only have access to your pay stubs through ipay? And only have the option of your pay being direct deposited?
I'm surprised that as tech savvy as MM is, that this wasn't considered a welcome upgrade by him.

I thought mm said no tickets were issued? C'mon hc. Does it really make a diff.? My point was NOT being able to get access to it, no matter if it was a report or a ticket.
