Gee, I wonder if that is because of national health care, (yep) Above is just one article that explains the decrease in Pharm samples. Decreases started as far back as 2007.

How many of yeahs educate yourself as far as medications? Maybe like what time of day is the proper time of day, or is there certain foods that effects the absorption of the medication. or if needing to do blood work and the physicain did not say anything. With the world of the internet, we all can educate ourselves on health issues, medications, and so on and so forth. I'm wondering how many people go on the internet for the education or how many depends upon the doctors, nurses, pharmacist and so on to educate.

Prescription Drug Drop Box Flyers - Coalition members visited every pharmacy in the county last month, delivering flyers publicizing the locations of the county’s five permanent medication drop boxes. (use link on our website for the flyer.) One coalition member stated that every pharmacist took one look at the flyer and said “Wow, thanks so much, do you know how many calls I get each day?!” “Now, I know where to send them!” To find out where you can safely and securely dispose of your unwanted over-the-counter or prescription pills, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, click on the drop box image above. Want to take it further? Share this link, www.centerforprevention.org/pdf-files/ProjectMedicineDropinSussexCountyFall2013.pdf, or the flyer with family, friends and coworkers via email! Additionally, we can do a short presentation about prescription drug abuse trends and prevention (we can include other drugs too!) in your office, house of worship, or community. Please call Ayla at 973-383-4787 for more information. Prescription Drug Crimes Training for Law Enforcement - On June 13th, 38 law enforcement officers, representing almost every department in the county, attended a Prescription Drug Crimes Training. This training was offered to all law enforcement personnel at no cost through a collaborative effort by the Coalition, Sussex County Community College Criminal Justice Department and Purdue Pharma, L.P. The instructor, Edward Cartwright, is Associate Director of Law Enforcement Liaison and Education for Purdue. During the 5 ½ hour training, Mr. Cartwright covered prescription drug Identification and trends, lawful prescribing and prevention of diversion, abuse and diversion of controlled substances, and pharmacy safety

We dropped Kroger Pharmacy a couple yrs. back. The GAS points WERE Extremely helpful due to our specific health needs. Streator does not have the specialists to address our needs. Thus requiring us to travel to and from Bloomington and further frequently.
We were informed by Kroger Head Pharmacist 2 years ago; they would NOT honor our Gas POINTS due to the cost to carry the Generic Brand medications needed. Kroger informed us they were actually losing money by carrying our medication needs.
* Streator Drugs * IS and HAS been an Extreme DISCOUNT for us. We had issues with our Pharmaceutical Benefits which required Generic vs. Non-generic. We found SOME generics work and others DON'T. Thus driving us to find the Pharmacy closest to us who is Willing to carry the Generic medications our Insurance covers, and does NOT.
It's been in the past few months, we've been able to pick up "90 day supply" medications at our Local Pharmacy vs. Mail Order. This is much easier to track vs. seeking online for the next refill date. I DON'T like having my Information over the Internet; thus not wanting to deal with Mail Order. Plus this IS a lot quicker than the " 2 + WEEK Processing Notice " to The Mail order dept. required, along with refill notices.
IF anyone is on Maintenance Medications; having the option of NO Mail Order vs. Mail Order is a lot easier, especially with Medications that aren't normally carried at local Pharmacy's that fit my medical needs.
Streator Drugs offers; " FREE HOME DELIVERY; " Thus not having to make sure there is someone capable to pick up my prescriptions as needed since I no longer have the ability to drive.
I'm not sure IF this IS correct; IF you've ever spoken to a Pharmacist, been told the day the prescription date is due to arrive... I BELIEVE there is A SINGLE Hub for MOST Medication Arrival in smaller communities. This makes sense; after working at a Bank for years. There's a Hub for Incoming and Outgoing Monetary funds. I believe it to be the same as when to expect; " The BRINKS Truck " for Pickup and Drop off locations AS with certain medications not normally stocked, I could be in ERROR.
IF you have a Rare condition and reside in or near a small local community; one HAS to rely on a Pharmacy to carry their medications needed.... OR; spend time waiting, plus for Insurance approval for needed Prescriptions to be filled / shipped from out of town. The same for those who relied upon St. Mary's for their SPECIFIC Medical Care; I feel sorrow. Streator NO longer has the Physicians for their medical needs relied upon AS St. James and St. Josephs in Bloomington / Normal has. It seems a Waste for those who relied upon the MRI Machine that traveled from one town to the next to receive IMPORTANT Medical Input and Care crucial to THEIR health care as NEEDED.
