I agree Lucky1, Dd & gg. It's like banging your head against a wall or dealing with a spoiled toddler! Wa Wa Wa Is that right blue, you think I'm like a spoiled toddler and think I am crying about the golf course? All I thought I was doing was asking questions about Willy's comments in the neespaper and expressing my opinions, It's not like I got "irate" over citizens just expressing their opinions, is it? I think that a City leader getting "irate" over citizens questioning what our government (that is supposed to be for the people) does, sounds more like a spoiled toddler, don't you? Do you think Willy really believes that the $70,000.00 that the course loses in a year, an expense that would supposedly still exist to mow the grass there makes it seem like our City workers are some of the lowest paid people around? How do you suppose he can expect people to be happy about paying for free golf for some City leaders who seem to have no solutions to the priblems and pass such ridiculous ordinances? Should I just expect some more name calling from you?

the $70,000.00 that the course loses in a year, That's not what the newspaper said. "The shortfall exceeded $70,000 in 2012 and hovered around $50,000 the last two years."

On Tuesday afternoon I dropped my 13 year old grandson there, (after his working in our yard for 2 hours, to earn cash) where he met up with 2 other 13 year olds. I realized he'd forgotten his phone so I went back & by driving behind the buildings in the Kroger lot I saw them, & returned the cell. From my vantage point I was able to watch boys being boys, but they were also enjoying the game. They were there for a couple of hours, according to my grandson, & they had a good time. He's golfed with adults & just friends on all 3 of our courses & he's always felt good about the experience. Maybe there was simply a problem with a new staff mamber on the following day, when Wilberts boys visited.

You're pretty vague on the accusations Wilbert. Care to be more specific? My kids have golfed there and had a great time. Good for your kids cmon, glad they had an enjoyable time. Mine was treated like an imposture. People need to treat people the way they would want to be treated. My sons friend lives out of town. He went back home feeling very unwelcomed at this course. No worries, none of my family will go back. It really is a shame this town has nothing for kids to do. There is no pool, no theater, no skate park. This town is to geared towards retired folks. Let me add, I have no problem with city employees golfing for free. Good for them! THIS IS A ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HOW A BUSINESS TREATS A PAYING CUSTOMER. Sure you can golf, if you are welcomed guest on the course. Goodluck with that. Wilbert, you are very vague about the incident. And I'm sorry this happened to your son. But, you mentioned he was treated like an imposter. I don't know what you meant by that, of course. But, do you think it was simply a mistake? I would think that most people have read about your son being in a serious accident recently, between the posts being shared by many on Facebook, regarding the gofundme and the collection at Streator Community credit union. Do you think the staff was concerned that your son really WAS an imposter, and she was just being cautious? You said he's 24, and the other is close to that, right? Maybe it was just a simple misunderstanding? If that's the case, I think I would do the same. I would have questioned the young man, also.

Yes, the newspaper said that the golf course lost over $70,000.00 in just one year. That would put many private businesses out of business, but the City of Streator just keeps raising our taxes so that Willy can have his prized course. Willy seems to try to make people believe that that expense would still be there to mow the grass if it is opened up for a wider range of people to use it. I think he is full of crap, just like when he made his unsubstantiated claims that my family was doing anything that he could turn his head to. I think our City leaders should be called out when they try spewing such crap.

I am calling you Kyle out for your duplicitous actions and words. You go on and on about what dead people did to you just to distract everyone from what is really happening. I won't stop talking about your twisted ways and will reveal to everyone who you are really working with. I have heard the brown bags aren't going IN to city hall they going OUT in your hands.

if it is opened up for a wider range of people to use it. How would you suggest the space be used to open it up to more people? What would the revenues, if any, be and what would the expenses be?

I believe I read somewhere that the 70,000 number was a result of the greens getting f**ked up. The last couple of years have still showed losses but not as great. I wouldn't be ready to throw in the towel on the golf course yet. I would wait to see if they get gambling and see if it makes it at least "break even" then. How much do you think it would cost to make it into a usable park with shelters, picnic tables, etc? We have parks now that are under utilized.

Perhaps they could spend the money to transform it into another Baseball field.......... We certainly need another one of them, why you can't hardly find an open slot to play a game at the other one...............

Maybe it was just a simple misunderstanding? If that's the case, I think I would do the same. I would have questioned the young man, also. Yes it was a simple misunderstanding on both sides Helencrump. But the attendant was above and beyond rude. My son is no angel, never claimed he was, nor would I ever. Thing is, if you have a problem with someone and you feel they are doing something wrong, approach them in a civil manner and get it worked out. Don't chase them down, threaten to call the cops and scream at them. Maybe the attendant was having a bad day, who knows. I'm over it. Bigger fish to fry in my life right now. I am glad the city workers can golf there for free. They deserve the benefit of some fun in the sun. As for other paying customers, respect runs both ways. Had the attendant approached my son in a calm manner, we would not be having this conversation. That was the first thing he said to me when he came home! She just screamed at him! Lessons learned on both sides I guess. As for things to do here in town, it is sad there is not more for kids to do. Yes we have golf courses but in reality, it is kind of expensive to golf no matter where you go. Not many kids can afford it. Minonk has a beautiful skate park. It would be nice to have something like that. I always see kids riding their skate boards around town. I applaud Safe Haven for giving kids some place to hang out that is safe. Keeps them off the street and gives them something fun to do. We still have no pool though or theater. It's time Streator starts doing a little something for their youth.

Respect goes both ways. The young men took their own beer on the course and had been playing for over an hour and a half to play five holes. Carts go back in at 7PM and the lady working has to put them all away .The boys were more than rude to her and she felt threatened, since she is all alone out there. What would you have done Wilbert if you were in her shoes? The oldest two men on that course can play nine holes in less than an hour and a half. The reason she was looking for them is the fact the carts are to go in at 7 and it was past that time. She told them they could continue playing the course but the cart had to be turned in. The course sells six-packs in course coolers and they had a twelve pack that was brought onto the course. No course allows that. The people working at Anderson Fields are pretty nice to those that come out to play. There's always two sides to a story, this is the other half. We're all sorry for what you're going through right now, but maybe you jumped the gun.

The people working at Anderson Fields are pretty nice to those that come out to play. There's always two sides to a story, this is the other half. We're all sorry for what you're going through right now, but maybe you jumped the gun. For one they did not know they could not bring their own beer on the course. My son offered to show her his I.D. She refused to see it. Second she NEVER EVER TOLD THEM WHEN THEY PURCHASED THE CART THAT IT HAD TO BE BACK BY 7:00. Never. Had they known that, they would have golfed quicker or they would have went some place else. If they ever decide to go back which I doubt, they will surely purchase beer there. They did not know, it was an honest mistake. When he asked if he could get refunded because they would not be allowed to finish the 9 holes, she told them no RUDELY AND SAID SHE DID NOT HAVE TO REFUND ANYONE AFTER 5 HOLES. Since she did NOT do her job and tell them at the beginning that the cart had to be back by 7:00, she could of at least offered to refund them. She obviously needs some more training. As for threatened, they were the ones who felt threatened. He and his friend are nice guys....good guys. He told me if the attendant would have talked calmly to them and not screamed, he would have been ok with it all. He would have apologized for bringing in the beer and would have taken the cart back by 7:00. She chose not to approach them in that manner. Nice course Willy. People make mistakes. Employees don't need to wig on paying customers who did not know the rules and who were not told them. My son is no angel. AGAIN He told me point blank, had she approached them in a CALM MANNER and talked to them like normal people, it would have all been resolved. Good customer service goes a long way as well as having good customers. Sorry my son did not know the rules. He is enlightened now. He is wet behind the ears when it comes to golf.....for that I will apologize for him. Oh and to add, this has nothing to do with emotions and my other son getting hurt. Your attendant did wrong too. Get her some more training.

I'm glad that you're doing better after what you've been through. A few people have been kind in their comments and have avoided beimg abusive with their comments. I'm sorry you still feel your son was abused at the course. You say he plays all the time at other courses and never has a problem. Well it's posted on the main door at Anderson's that carts don't go out past 5:30 and will be turned in at 7PM. That's pretty exact. Your son signed in at 5:20 and was asked to turn his cart in at 7:10 PM at which time he was caught with the beer he brought onto the course. There is not a course that I know of in LaSalle County or anywhere that allows any person to bring their own beer on to the course. I'm sure that your son wouldn't have tried that at Twin Creeks or the Eastwood Course.
In all honesty had your son went out on a Sunday afternoon early and took 3 hours to play, not one word would have been said to him, and in all probability no one would have seen him bringing the beer on the course. Your son got caught, plain and simple. Don't blame a very nice lady for doing her job. She's worked out there a decent amount of time and hasn't had any problems with any other folks. Maybe he owes somebody a big SORRY.
