No, that's not the case at all, we wish it were run properly to keep this needed, valuable resource. It's kind of like saying we should be happy if all Politicians were banned............ Chaos would result. If that Politician worked for the public benefit though, people wouldn't want to tar and feather him. Well said! Very well said! Eh, what do I know, all I do is insult other posters by calling them "stupid, liars, libtards, phony, lackoffs, etc" What's a poor, disadvantaged white boy to do?

the hospital is a business and it`s there to make money. if its losing money you can bet it will find ways to make a profit or it will be closed. I being catholic myself know from what happened to the fine churches we had in this community long ago that religion has nothing to do with the decisions to close places. the main decision today is if a place is losing money you either downsize or consolidate. the city is scared that if OSF buys the hospital that it will close it because the area is saturated with OSF hospitals. FWIW, I just got my bill for my first time at OSF. Lets just say it was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than what I was charged for the same services at St. Marys 7 years ago....... Way, way cheaper............. I do wonder how that is, they have more help, better paid help, and manage to be WAY cheaper? My Ultrasound at St. Marys 7 years ago was $ 2,460 by itself, my total bill at OSF 2 weeks ago, including the prompt care visit, the ultrasound, and 5 different blood tests including a comp panel ( that 7 years ago I was charged $ 880 at St Marys ) was $ 1,700 bucks. I would say that if St. Marys is not floating in cash, it is not because of their pricing............ St Mary's is way overpriced. my wife goes to Streator drugs to get her blood work done because it only costs her 50.00 sniper. I go to Ottawa community hospital for my treatment or the VA hospital.

I just went to Streator Drugs for the 2nd time. I have 2 kinds of blood work-ups, 1 every 3 months & the other once every 6 months. My share of one @ St. Marys, on an 80/20% ins. plan cost me over $250.00. It was $105.00 @ Streator Drugs. The other was $75.00 vs $50.00. That's NOT using my ins. & better in MY pocket! ($340.00) There's no way to get out of these tests, 4Xs a year. That's $650.00 vs $310.00. For many w/a health problem, there are many more costs, including Dr. visits, specialists, medical supplies ..... in addition too. At least we're not "locked in" to just the lab @ St. Marys!! Pontiac's not that far away, if it's not a life or death situation. They're in the top best hospitals in Illinois too.

I understand saving a buck, I really do!
However, everybody seems to want the hospital to stay open, yet nobody is going to it for treatment, procedures, etc.
It's like the Majestic Theatre. So many seem to want it open, yet when it was open, not enough people went to it so it could stay open.
Be careful with the hospital or it could join the Majestic in being all shuttered up.

Yeah I wasn't told about Streator Drugs until after I had bloodwork done. Do you have to make an appointment?

Yeah I wasn't told about Streator Drugs until after I had bloodwork done. Do you have to make an appointment? No, 1st come, 1st served. Go in the east door & sign up @ the rear cash reg., to get on the list. It moves pretty fast. We., Thurs & Sat. 9am-Noon. That's YOUR perogative OT, but WE are still supporting a Streator Business. BTW, since you're such a smart business-man, go to the hosp. lab, I'm sure YOU could afford the "Inflated" costs!

Nobody wants to go in it's CURRENT status. There are signs up all over to warn if you're allergic to latex. I felt totally dismissed when I warned. Also, you go to a hospital to get treatment. Not to be told to see a doctor or take a shower to clean your wounds. Get the point!?!

I changed to Streator Drugs for medications after the big influx of Thrifty customers went to Kroger. I had uses Kroger for years, loved their service and people but then the wait time got to be way to long.

Took my son for a follow up appt. with Dr. Sinha. He was busy doing surgery at the hospital. Enough brokenbones is keeping him busy. A good thing, I think.
