Well I could have drove to Springfield and got in faster.. Then I can show you the results of the care I received if you would like.. Jim, that is not an excuse to chop the thing off and mail it to him.................... Seems like someone who can't process information...Maybe I should.. Have an address cmon? Streator online is ganging up on its failing Hospital..Think just from the sampling of complaints here anyone could deduce there is a problem!!!

He's out of state but we could also add my friend who spent half an hour waiting for them to decide what to do while he was spitting up blood the whole time.. It was an esophagus issue he has had from birth due to eating something too rough..After they decided to wait on a drug test after he explained the problem He walked out and drove to Spring Valley where they immediately put him in intensive care for three days...

Yes there is a problem. It doesn't run as a hospital. You shouldn't have to pay money for someone to tell you go see your doctor. Obviously you couldn't, or thought it was an emergency. Maybe if they actually cleaned the wounds, they would see how bad it really is. Not until I moved here did I ever hear of such a crazy thing.

My finger was so mangled they wouldn't let me sit in the waiting room, had me sit in the receptionists booth with a plastic pan and A WET RAG FOR OVER TWO HOURS.,. BLEEDING THE WHOLE F-CKING TIME.....

OMG! There's definitely something wrong with that picture. They needed to prioritize injuries. Not first come, first served. When I had my second surgery (back home), they asked if they could push me back one for someone else. The guy was screaming his head off and all I was doing was reading a book. Of course I let him go before me. They needed to prioritize and did so. If your having chest pains, it just might not be heartburn. Get them in quick. Bleeding all over the place, URGENT.

Hospitals get in trouble over care like that. Hence why they can't refuse anybody because they don't have insurance.

Hell last year right after I moved back to town I before I had my pacemaker installed I came down with Massive Chest Pains. I went to the ER at St Mary's the ER Doc swore it was Indigestion did not look at my History of Heart Issues at all. My wife who was with me called Dr Noumani's office and told them what was going on. Noumani come Running over to my ER room I was not even hooked up to a Monitor had NO IV's going he goes this is MY Patient I was 2 IV's a 12 Lead EKG going NOW. Next thing I know I am being Shipped down to Peoria after getting Shocked 3 Times with the Defibrillator in the Freaking ER. My Hearts upper chambers had gone in to a Fatal beat and the Stupid ER doc was going to send me HOME. 3 months later I ended up getting a Pacemaker Defib combo in my chest to stop it forever.

the hospital is a business and it`s there to make money. if its losing money you can bet it will find ways to make a profit or it will be closed. I being catholic myself know from what happened to the fine churches we had in this community long ago that religion has nothing to do with the decisions to close places. the main decision today is if a place is losing money you either downsize or consolidate. the city is scared that if OSF buys the hospital that it will close it because the area is saturated with OSF hospitals. FWIW, I just got my bill for my first time at OSF. Lets just say it was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than what I was charged for the same services at St. Marys 7 years ago....... Way, way cheaper............. I do wonder how that is, they have more help, better paid help, and manage to be WAY cheaper? My Ultrasound at St. Marys 7 years ago was $ 2,460 by itself, my total bill at OSF 2 weeks ago, including the prompt care visit, the ultrasound, and 5 different blood tests including a comp panel ( that 7 years ago I was charged $ 880 at St Marys ) was $ 1,700 bucks. I would say that if St. Marys is not floating in cash, it is not because of their pricing............

From the comments I have read about the "hospital," people should be happy that it will be no more.

It's kind of like saying we should be happy if all Politicians were banned............ Chaos would result. If that Politician worked for the public benefit though, people wouldn't want to tar and feather him.

Good thing you have a good doctor. This wasn't here, but my grandfather was having a heart attack in the ER waiting room. My dad called his doctor and before he even hung up, a nurse came flying out to get him. Amazing, they are the ones with medical knowledge, but don't think to use it. Chest pains.... Hello!!!! Sad to say, there are hospitals all over that don't process as they should.
