People should protest and boycott all movies and shows from Warner brothers until they put this show back on the air.

Thanks Dave. I had looked at that site already & a few others. I'm thinking I simply don't quite understand if your point is with some (SC & at least 2 more, in the late 1950's & early 1960's) states flying their state flags above their capitols or if you were suggesting that the incorporation of aspects of the various confederate banners into the state flags was a way of snubbing the feds. Like yourself I'm a Yankee by birth, but educated in the deep south, and have lived my adult life in IL. My view of that awful struggle is likely different than many, as I feel there was a large amount of true history lost, as is often the case, after the war ended. If you have opportunity, check out a book titled A Price Beyond Rubies, author Louise M. Barry. There were many good, & honorable people of integrity on both sides of that conflict. In our family we have ancestors on both sides of the conflict. We respect all of them, & about a year ago we returned to the site of one of the nastiest battles, to honor a 4great grandfather who'd been killed in the battle. There we were in the heart of the south & the committee & citizenry paid no homage to the fallen of the confederacy. Our relative was a confederate officer. As I've mentioned at other points the pendulum of society swings to extreme points & during such moments many are needlessly disrespected & even hurt.

On This Day In History 1964, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signs into law the historic Civil Rights Act in a nationally televised ceremony at The White House.
1964 Civil Rights voting record.
When the bill came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964, the "Southern Bloc" of 18 southern Democratic Senators led by Richard Russell (D-GA) launched a filibuster to prevent its passage.[14] Said Russell: "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would have a tendency to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our (Southern) states." The most fervent opposition to the bill came from Senator Strom Thurmond (D-SC): "This so-called Civil Rights Proposals, which the President has sent to Capitol Hill for enactment into law, are unconstitutional, unnecessary, and unwise and extend beyond the realm of reason. This is the worst civil-rights package ever presented to the Congress and is reminiscent of the Reconstruction proposals and actions of the radical Republican Congress.” When President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law on July 2, 1964, he said to an aide, “We (Democrats) have lost the South for a generation.”

Thanks for the link BStar (did Mr R post a pic, of the Bluestar Hwy we travelled earlier this year, on FB? Upon noticing we thought of you)
Indeed, propaganda abounds, & I appreciate the point the professor is presenting, but letters & diaries (some we have access to) also present truth concerning that terrible time, thus my opinion remains a bit out of sync with prevalent current attitudes.

No, I didn't eva, I'll have to look. Your right about the letters, as I was reading a great book about stories from several batallions from both sides, during the war, but my kindle decided to act up & I lost it. I'll have to get a new one & re-load it. You'll should share them, even if it's only on Mr.Rs FB. I'd love to read them!

To remove a OLD show just because the car is fashioned after a flag the is considered "wrong" by TODAY'S standards is ridiculous. They were just some good ol boys. Never meaning no harm...

Yep, but never watched this. Not when it was on, or in reruns. Just not my cup of tea. That's what's great about this country. Freedom to choose. I however, grew up watching this show. Back in the day when "The Muppet Show" was on prime time. Lol Couldn't do that today.
