Where are you going for the fire works? I think Peru's has cancelled theirs, I think. Do you have a picnic? Yes, Peru has cancelled theirs. Ottawa has closed the park and the riverside walk due to flooding, so it might be harder to view them. Personally, I saw both Streator and Ottawa last year, and I liked Ottawa's a little better. The paper said this is the last year of the contract with the current fireworks company and they might have a better show to entice the 4th of July committee to renew the contract. Streator has always done an excellent job with their fireworks and I commend the previous members and welcome the new members. There is a lot of work year-round to make the show a success. It seems that other cities have brought their fireworks display up to the standard that Streator has set.

Fireworks started here in my neighborhood about last weekend. I have heard of some folks going all the way to Ohio for "Big Boy" fireworks. (But really Indiana is probably the best choice.)
