Anyone read the article in the paper about the safest towns in Illinois with under 100000 population....Streat was at 19 slightly better than Ottawa and Peru.... I am actually surprised at that, maybe they should ask, towns that where SERIOUS crime is committed and goes unsolved. I'm not asking to be attacked here, just commenting, that if you really think about the major crimes that have happened here and are unsolved.....

It's my opinion, however, some of these murders here in Streator must of been on a professional level where they covered all angles, that would explain the unsolved murders here.

We spent a little time down at the Canoe Launch drowning some worms recently. No bites, but enjoyed some time down at the River. Thank You Streator for making the area available. Maybe next time we will try Spring Lake or Marilla Park, both nice Nature areas as well. Anyone been out to play Frisbee Golf this year? I, was cruising thru MP,and some folks were doing the disk golf. They said, this is one of the best courses they have been on, and all had played all over the country, and one, around the world. They were from Joliet. They were kind enough to explain it to me, and then said, if I had ever thrown a frizbee, I could do this. I,laughed, as I was throwing frizbees, before those boys were born. lol Bad me. I have not been out to Spring Lake, yet. That is on my list, again, this summer. toshiko, Isn't it refreshing when you talk to people and realize how many "out of towners" enjoy their visit? Oh, and Spring Lake is beautiful. A great getaway to enjoy nature and do a little reflecting on anything you wish. And to think some Streatorites were so considerate to put the time and energy, to clean the jewel that is Spring Lake and preserve it for future generations. That is the Streator Spirit, I know since moving to this fine City. g

Isn't it great to read facts. I believe our City and its residents should take pride in their accomplishments. We've taken a few "hits" but we are coming back. Make no mistake about it. g

Streator is still crime ridden. Most incidents don't even get reported, drugs at every other corner around the high school & park. As for murders, tell MArk & the the lAdy that was drug for miles, that the murders are not very often. Time for a new chief to combat the current crime wave.

Are you suggesting "most incidents don't even get reported" are somehow greater in Streatro than any other city in Illinois? Show us your statistics on you thorough study of crime in Streator. What "crime wave". Name the last murder victim in Streator, and the year. g

The taxpayers are lucky the city council didn't have their way, and sell Spring Lake Park like they wanted to. Great thinkers = great town.

I noticed some nice streatorites dumped an bathtub and some other garbage at the east end bridge at Marilla Park. One can only be so proud of its citizens.

Can't arbitrarily blame it on a local, might have been someone from out of town...I know of a construction crew (professionals with licenses to boot) that has dumped refuse along the side of many a country road...They were reported, but never caught...

No1, you may be correct, streator folk don't work and only have remodeling done, by the government.

No-1, you are definitely correct, streators residents didn't dump the bathtub. The greasy wetback Mexican, stinking n*ggfers, and whiter trash residents , have no need for a bathtub. Personal hygiene eludes them.
