LA SALLE — For the 30th consecutive year, a free kids' fishing tournament will take place at Lock 14 on the Illinois & Michigan Canal. This year's event is Saturday, June 6, with registration starting at 8 a.m., followed by fishing from 9 to 11 a.m. Bait, snacks and soft drinks will be available for children ages 4 through 15.
Participants must bring their own tackle — one pole and one hook, with no artificial lures allowed. Tournament sponsors include the Better Fishing Association of Northern Illinois, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, La Salle Rotary Club and Illinois Valley Sunrise Rotary Club, in association with the cities of La Salle and Peru and the Peru Rescue Squad.
For more information, call 815-223-2382 or 815-223-3671.
