I heardthe cash store had an armed robbery today....Seems to be pretty easy to get away with that in town..Also wasnt there a big state police presence in town this morn..Didnt deter real crime I guess...

I fell sorry for the ones who have to handle cash, pretty scary as times are getting tougher.

Since this was on fb, I am posting a post from face book.
AM 1250 WSPL 7 hrs · #BREAKING Streator Police and Illinois State Police are on the lookout for an individual who robbed The Cash Store in Streator this morning. (This is in the Kroger Plaza) Authorities are seeking an African-American male, approximately 5-foot, 10-inches, weighing at 175 pounds. The man was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, a white hat and a green safety vest. Authorities say the man displayed a gun and walked out with two bags of money. Anyone with information on this man is asked to contact the Streator Police Department. We will post more information on this when it is available.

Over a week ago I reported to SPD what sounds to be; High Pitched Mini Bikes, 2 or 3 speeding through the North end of town in the early am; 2:00 - 5:00 am.
The Dispatcher told me they will begin patrolling the area and my call was the first report they'd received.
My call was on a week night, I was placed on hold 3 times during my call due to calls coming in.
I've not heard the Bikes since I made the report, I hope this means IF people were checking North End neighborhoods, SPD Are on Patrol.

Maybe people who handle cash should get their Concealed Carry License and start carrying! Too bad there wasn't a customer there with his CCL!

I don't know for sure if the cash store has one or not but lots of businesses in town have the no gun signs on their doors.

them no gun signs are only for the law abiding citizens not the criminals. criminals see the no gun signs and that alerts them to a great place to rob easily.

I should have stated most of the financial institutions in town have no gun signs dog. as for the grocery stores I don't recall seeing any signs on the doors of the ones I frequent.

Kroger won't post them! In many stores around the country CC ers have stopped armed robberies & helped save some lives, in & outside thier stores!

The places with the "No Guns" signs are welcoming the armed robbers because the robbers know that they will not be met with lethal force! Those businesses are easy pickings for armed robbers!
