Oh, I forgot another Sniper myth/assertion; namely, his claim that he is not making the "big buck." My son-in-law is an engineer, and I know the money he makes. I seem to remember he works for one of the big 3, correct? Where does he live? By your inference, we should say all small town Lawyers are rich because you are? Couldn't be that quality of life is more important than money? yea, I thought so........ NEXT!

The roads in their area are dirt roads. Quality of life? They live on 17 acres with a pond about 200 yards from their house. Bob Ritchie lives about a mile away. Sniper, your comments bring to mind similar ones I used to hear from small town lawyers: "I know that I could make a couple of hundred thousand more a year in Chicago, but l like the quality of life here. Also, real estate closings, writing wills and handling prove up divorces is exciting."

And apparently, as a man, he seems to know about estrogen, too.Kinda like the KOP! What happens during menopause, sniper? How are those estrogen levels, then? Gotta love a man, that has to use estrogen, as an excuse, to belittle or use in an argument. How often should a cancer survivor get a pap smear? How often should a cancer survivor, get those levels tested?. Oh and what is the normal? And, yes, I, found it belittling and a little chauvenistic!(sp) Meanwhile, back to the topic. These oil spills are scary, as are the new carbon emmission numbers. I, am not a scientist, but, I, do trust them, more than an average Joe. Excuse me, while I, go calm my estrogen w/ a beer. Yo sis, who are those "scientists"? Has anyone attempted to get them to explain how the Earth was far warmer for several periods prior to Man? Did Aliens screw it up before us? Instead of having that beer, perhaps you should pick up a science book. How ironic, you tell me to 'pick up a science book". I, have no doubt, there is natural occurences(sp), but, I, do think man is excellerating it.

I'm not the one who drew first blood here, but I will leave it as this, I would MUCH rather be a simple man living over 100 miles away from Chicago than a super Engineer living 40 miles from Detroit. Quality of life isn't always about 17 acres and a pond my friend............ Sometimes it is about a 5 min. drive to work where you don't see a single car on the road.

Ok, now since you are so sure Man is causing it, how do we explain the rise in surface temperature on Mars mirroring the rise on Earth? Are there Suburbans and Expeditions screwing up their atmosphere? Really, I am not trying to be argumentative, hell I was one of you before I studied it............ Back when it was the coming Ice age. Seriously, study it.

I would imagine that quality of life would include: a low crime rate, good restaurants, top schools, nice homes, and nice golf courses. Yep, that sounds like Ransom. Also, you suggest that 40 miles is "next door." Pick up an Illinois map. Virtually all of the most affluent communities in Illinois are within 40 miles of Chicago. In fact, our bucolic little town is about 40 miles from Chicago; about 26 miles if you simply cross the lake. You got me on the "five minute drive." Ken has to drive fourteen miles to Chrysler's World Headquarters and Tech Center in Auburn Hills.

$70.000 A YEAR IF THAT for most engineers, not a nuclear engineer though, they bring home much more.

Do you have any resources that disproves that climate change is being affected by mankind that we can study? My curiosity is peaked.

$70.000 A YEAR IF THAT for most engineers, not a nuclear engineer though, they bring home much more. I thiught you were wrong about $70K a year for an engineer. I did some Googling. It is actually close to the low end ($63K) for a starting electrical engineer. My brother was an Aerospace Engineer. They are listed at $150K a year. My bro never told how much he made and I never asked. My guess that w/ his gov. security clearance, he made a bit more. I know that one company that wanted to hire him away from another, moved his car from D.C to L.A.by rail. I think his last gig was Northup-Gummon. Maybe defense Engineers make more money? No matter. He is giving all of his estate to his Engineering school. (Wish he would give some to his younger brother back home in Streator)

Maybe it's just me, admittedly a bit of a simpleton, but I am happy I have a roof overhead, some food in my belly, good health and some friends and family to share it with. I assume Roman is happy in his life and proud of his kids in theirs. I am pretty sure Sniper is happy in his life as well. Why the pissing match of comparative happiness or 'quality of life'. SOME people have an awesome 'quality of life' and are miserable. Others live in horrible conditions and are happy as can be. I suggest the man that is happy and content in his condition leads the richer life. Of course it's human nature to want a little more, a little better. Without that, there would be no drive, and that's not good. Everything in moderation. There is no price on happiness and health. I am blessed to still have both.

As he once said, "Take an issue and I will argue either side of it." He reminds me of the Medieval Scholastics of whom it was said that they "could make the better part appear the worse." I don't mind. I will still let him buy the first round when I make it to town this summer.
