the pigs have flown the coop........................................ I have a sneaking suspicion it is not the last round. Good idea to make a mold and sell them. There is some firm up in Wisconsin that makes all the huge roadside attractions. You could be on to something. Also some Towns have small statues painted up and around town as a fun Summertime thing. I have seen Cows all painted up different colors and small versions of old cars(maybe 57 Chevies), why not flying pigs? Oh, I've got some ideas for some other sculptures, kinetic and otherwise. I do have an idea for a large roadside attraction character similar to Woody, that I'd like to make. MnM asked before, what's next. Won't that be interesting to see? It will be a while though, I've got some other projects to work on first. On another note, we are grieving the loss of one of our ladies. During a recent afternoon of free ranging, it appears that she became the victim of a feral cat. She was one of our original four hens and our only barred rock (the mostly black ones for those who don't know hens), because of her color we named her Knight, she was the second in pecking order behind our big RI red/ISA brown mix, that we named Gladys. Then obviously the third in the pecking order we named Pip. The fourth one seemed to like people better than chickens, we call her Harriet. The others didn't seem to understand what was wrong with Knight. I tried telling them about Lion King and the circle of life, but I don't think they really understood. It is sad because they are such good pets that are harmless, easy to care for, and have so many benefits too. Anyway, did you ever notice that there doesn't ever seem to be a problem with irresponsible hen owners not caring for their animals properly to create problems with an over population of feral chickens living on the streets? Maybe cats should be banned instead of hens.

Weren't the cows part of a contest? Two of them now make their home outside the playroom, at Children's Hospital. That's a good idea helen. Maybe Streator should have such a contest/exhibition of sculptures. I'd participate.

Sorry to hear about your barred rock. Feral cats or farm cats DO have some good use as mousers though. I would be concerned for your others if that cat has developed a taste for chickens. It will know where to get more. If you want to preserve the rest, take some kind of precautions. I usually only let them free range when I'm working in my garage/driveway (making pigs). They love being out so much, someone else decided to let them out for a while when I was out of town. They felt bad about it. It's just nature though, I explained Lion King and the circle of life to him too; it made him feel better. We'll be sure to just keep a closer eye on them but they are relocating soon anyways.

Didn't Chicago, have cows, or something one time? Downtown Dallas had about two dozen gnomes, all painted differently. They were scattered about the downtown. Pretty neat, but like the Pigs, they had a shelf life that only lasted a few months. The artisits were paid and the gnomes were donated.

Maybe owners who don't S/N thier cats or peeps that just "Drop-Them-Off" to be rid of them, should be fined! It's their fault, not the cats!

Didn't Chicago, have cows, or something one time? Yes they did. Cows were all over downtown Chicago & 1 was made by a local artist, that had moved there.

Yes, it was just a temporary display. I got some video and media coverage to use to try to promote them elsewhere. The pig's a$$ that spoke to so many here will be part of a more permanent display on my building, in acknowledgement of some of the less scrupulous City leaders, their supporters, and my detractors in general. Kyle, Is that why I saw your "flying pigs", a bed frame, mattress, and a dresser loaded, in a big red Dodge Ram pick up on Wednesday around noon? In my opinion you created your own "detractors". g

Kyle, Perhaps, the only owner of hens in Streator should have recognized that there is no City Ordinance against "feral cats" and own up to being irresponsible. Naw, it everyone else's fault for his loss. Right, Kyle? g

It keeps perspective business owners away from Streator with the threat of huge expenses to remove "all" of the snow from the sidewalks or being subjected to their daily fines. Do You suppose they will change it soon? I couldn't help but notice some of my friends from Flagstaff posting about the six inches of snow they got just yesterday. Did you know that Flagstaff is one of the snowiest cities in the country? Maybe some Arizonans can come to Streator to show our leaders how to write a reasonable snow removal ordinance, do you think?

Right, Kyle? g Gee greek, thank you pointing out that my perfectly legal, responsibly cared for hens had such little impact on Streator's downtown that you didn't even realize that they hadn't even been here for over six months. Isn't it a shame that our City government feels that they need to control people's lives so much that they take away their rights to have a few harmless hens that are very easy to care for and provide so many great benefits? Maybe they should start giving the citizens more rights and respect, don't you think?

That's why our City leaders were so worried when I began talking about the problems that they allow to exist and forced them to take such vindictive actions to attack my family. Hopefully they have seen what that resulted in and have indeed now started doing things differently. Maybe, Anything's Possible!
