If the animal is only a safe animal when in the care of a responsible owner, and we KNOW that there are many irresponsible people walking about, shouldnt that demonstrate the need for changes? (apparently the deaths of children isnt enough to demonstrate it)
And i think the over the top pit fanatics are just as dangerous as the irresponsible dont give a d@mn owners. Because they are in denial of the capabilities of their animal.

Because they are in denial of the capabilities of their animal. Couldn't agree more...When I was living in Colorado, I had to meet with an Attorney over a comp case and he was representing the family of a small child (about 3 yrs old) who was viciously attacked by a pit bull...The child was at his Dads for the weekend, the dog belonged to a friend of the downstairs neighbor, and the property owner had warned that tenant that the dog was NOT allowed on the property prior to the tragic incident...The dog grabbed this child by his head, and tossed him about like a rag doll (sound familiar?)...The little guys head was NOTHING but stitches when I saw him, and it broke my heart... The sad reality of it it, most owners are aware of the potential for danger with the breed - and they like it...Kind of like you don't buy a poodle for a guard dog, you buy a german shepherd...The popularity of the breed has created the scenario where ALL shelters now are full of them...While I don't necessarily fault the dog for that, the wanton lack of responsibility has led to over-breeding and people who simply toss them out like garbage...ALL dogs are cute when they're puppies, but they don't stay that way...

I saw our local child molester out walking his pit bull recently. He got out last Summer and his Brother went in for the burglaries out South here. The gangster child molester out on parole.....he should have a pit bull? He is lucky to be out free and have his testicles, let alone a pet. I don't know if it's the same one or not, but the one out south lets his Pit bull run free occasionally.

Ok, it's a different one. There's also one living on 12th Street with a pit bull.
