Bomb threat? So the kids are locked into a building that someone threaten to blow up? Logic is smacking me in the face. Why?

From the WSPL facebookA bomb threat written in graffiti prompted a soft lock-down of Streator High School this morning. Below is a press release from Superintendent Matt Seaton: "At approximately 11:00 AM this morning, a custodial staff member at Streator High School discovered graffiti in a bathroom that indicated that there was a bomb located in a specific closet within the building. The area affected was immediately evacuated and law enforcement and fire officials were contacted. The area was cleared by emergency personnel while the students and staff remained in a "soft-lockdown" within safe areas of the building. At Streator High School student safety is our top priority and our emergency plans were executed in response to this incident. The threat was isolated to a very specific area of the building, prompting a timely evacuation of the areas affected. Students and staff returned to class and lunch at 11:35. The incident continues to be under investigation by Streator High School and the Streator Police Department."

Just wondering if they go into a soft lockdown when someone pulls the fire alarm?

So, by chance if a real threat. the bomber is going to be truthful? God forbid he would lie? That would be against the almighty law. Just like the no guns signs they put up. They really think a suicide gunman. Is going to follow it? ? God help us if these are the smartest people in our community. I think any parent would agree, Any type of threat, no matter how small, get the kids out of the building. Not going by the word of a terrorist note? ? If he was a real bomber, didn't anyone think he was lying about placement? What would you tell parent's, not our fault, the bomber lied? Well whoever is dumb enough to believe a bomber, should have the stupid smacked out of them.

From what I read, The bomber stated it was in a certain closet. Do we believe him?? Andmove the kids to otherside of building??? If he was a real bomber and knew this procedure. wE would have been screwed. I see nothing wrong with letting them out or the day.

And the local mental health office is closing in streator July 1st. Everyone has to go to Ottawa to continue service. Problem is not everybody has reliable transportation to get there. Meaning some mentally ill people will go untreated.

If it was the policy to let them go for the day, by your premise, a real bomber who know THAT was the policy. Right?

Yes, I, remember several bomb threats, early 70s, at SHS. That was the time of protesting Vietnam.

And how do we know that this was not a practice drill? Just like at a nursing home when they have a fire drill. Just preparing just in case there is an actual thing. Just saying. I could be wrong on this also. I remember that there was a call to Northlawn then ten minutes later a bomb threat to the high school about a year or two ago and the people was evacuated from the building until the right departments cleared the building. Because I would think as procedure the school would of evacuated the school, if it was a thought of a threat. just a part of procedure.
