I sometimes wonder if people here ever drive in traffic.
You would think that everyone would be excited that the road is being resurfaced!

That is part of a state highway and the state is fixing it at their cost. This was on a to do list when I was on the council. Now it is getting fixed so be happy. Look how quickly they've worked. If getting to family dollar is such an in convenience, go to Dollar General and Aldi's isn't that hard to get to. And, no Rocket, Walmart isn't paying for the project. Enough already.

How about taking a different road and avoiding the construction zone? Back roads only get you so far...Try getting into, and out of Family Dollar through that mess...Or Aldi's... Folks seem to be missing my point - Why wasn't the heavy work done while school was on spring break?...Whoever planned it didn't factor that in... Just guessing but I am thinking that planning road construction, funding, contracting etc... would probably be done and set up possibly a year or two in advance? Perhaps that was done before the school set their current school year schedule so it may not have been known at the time and honestly i doubt the state would coordinate anyway . Everyone just needs to drive slow and carefully and use common sense. I know, I know this is Streator we are talking about lol

I find it no harder to get place to place, only taking few more minutes. Drive N or S, then reverse for the trip back home, so all you have to do is make a right turn into them. Getting out of Aldis actually took me less time than usual, w/the stop lights clearing traffic for a path out. It really doesn't take much time, when planning your trip, but then I do this all the time, conserving gas & wait time. The only diff. now, with it being warmer, I toss a cooler in the trunk for perishables.

Maybe they were waiting for the budget process, they may not have known how much they had to get the work done.

1)I went North to Tire Tracks where I had purchased the tires. Tire was OK and found out it was actually a ruined rim. 3)Went back to Tire Tracks for remounting the tire on new rim. There's where you went wrong. Go to Streator Tire on West Main. That would of taken care of some of it. They always get us right in and take good care of all of our tire needs. Plus, they aren't a chain. (Oops. Saw that you had a warranty and thats why you went back. So, you made your first mistake when you bought the tires. Go to Streator Tires. lol)

So, instead of taking you five minutes to get to family dollar it now takes you seven? You're in Streator. How bad can it really be? Bad enough for someone else to start this thread...And believe me, I've navigated the streets of Southern California during rush hour traffic, so I know how bad it can be...Only they're a tad bit smarter, they actually plan road construction to EASE the congestion, not to create it...Most of theirs is done at night... In Streators case, it took me 25 minutes to get from the south end of town to Family Dollar because of the traffic...Still missing the point...

I hear Walmart is paying for this. Not the taxpayers. And also heard they are going to pay to redo Oakley Ave to kangley rd for there trucks to use. If they are spending their own money to fix the public roads In this town, then there must be something big job wise coming here. otherwise they wouldn't be paying for this. Do you lay up at night and think about things like this to say?
