Lets see here all of a Sudden we where Outlawed from Parking in our OWN Driveways even BOBTAIL. Parking areas that we RENTED from Property Owners where Declared OFF LIMITS for USE. It was getting so bad that I was being forced to park on the RARE times that I did come home at a Former BOSSES Terminal 30 Miles away from town. Even a Fuel Stop with Parking aka Pit Stop West we where being Run out of there. I see equipment parked at the old Thrifty-Mart and Pitstop West. Do they allow parking there now?

If you start running a 7-8 ton semi-tractor on city streets and twisting and turning to get it into YOUR driveway don't you think street damage is going to happen ? What about the city sidewalk or berm you are driving over ? How about the truckers that leave them idling all night/day so the neighbors have to smell the exhaust and listen to the noise ? This is exactly why they have ordinances in place, to keep the residential districts residential and not turn them into a commercial district. And these ordinances were being enforced long before the 90's, 20 yrs. prior that I am aware of. How about that rented property being used as parking, did it comply with ordinances for the area it was in ?

Yes, they have some type of agreement with the property owner at the old Thrify-Mart, not sure if it is paid parking or not though. Pitstop always has allowed it, they prefer you buy fuel from them if parking for any length of time.

I am not really that concerned about the golf course, but jumped on the subject because Willy spoke up about it. Vindictive much majesticmitchell? Vindictive is what these City leaders have shown me they prefer. I am confident that their declaration of illegal against my family was their vindictive reaction for me asking that they do things differently. Did they misspeak when they said everyone living downtown was illegal? Absolutely. Should they have corrected it? Absolutely. If it wasn't intended to be a vindictive attack against my family, why wouldn't they have just corrected themselves and admitted that my family was not illegal. They were with me at the Council Meeting Public Forum where I explained how badly it hurt my son's business and asked for them to acknowledge that we had not been illegal residents, but they refused. I feel that would have been a great chance for them to let my son know if they had any desire for him to even try to continue doing business in Streator. Their lack of response, selective enforcement of overly restrictive ordinances, and stopping a business with a requirement that didn't even follow our laws gave him the response that they did not want business people such as him. I didn't say that I wasn't concerned at all about the golf course. I do feel that it is a doomed business venture that taxpayers will continue to have to pay for and that competes with other businesses, which I don't feel is right. I also feel that our City should be promoting more family friendly activities and not be in the alcohol and gambling business. Willy continues to try to make people think that it was obvious to the City that my family was doing something illegal when we were not and suggest violence against me, just because he doesn't like that I talk about wanting better for our community. That just makes me want to make sure that I voice my concerns about something that he supports. Call it vindictive if you want, but I see it as only being minute compared to the vindictiveness they have shown my family.

He has a spin for everything, but in the end, it all boils down to vindictiveness. Not a wish for betterment of the city. It wouldnt matter if Apple, Ford, Cat, and State Farm ALL relocated here, with an interstate connecting us to 80, 55 and 39, kyle would find some fault with the city!

I haven't seen Willy "continue to try to..." anything where it relates to Kyle.

Anyone who has the balls to challenge City Hall and the Leadership of this town has been squashed by the city for 20+ years. If you try to make this city a better place you have code enforcement or a vindictive council do things that make just about anything impossible to do. My parents spent more time answering code tickets on my car when I was a driver than being able to enjoy their golden years since I was paying them about 1600 a month to cover household expenses. So do not give me this thingy and bull story that this city is not VINDICTIVE I have been through the wrath of this city.
Why am I here called my mother and a landlord that is willing to sell us the house we are in on contract. Trust me it isn't the city.

I petitioned the council ten years ago to ban burning. I presented the petitions and spoke as a couple others did too. I have felt no wrath from them.

I petitioned the council ten years ago to ban burning. I presented the petitions and spoke as a couple others did too. I have felt no wrath from them. People in our neighborhood protested the widening of a road in preparation for a truck route that would have negatively impacted the neighborhood. They had organized meetings, petitions, facts, and front page newspaper articles on the subject. The City listened and worked with them. No wrath was felt by any of the people along the street. This was in the late 80's.

You were working to Restrict people I was going AGAINST City Hall AKAK calling them out for their actions on Code Enforcement their Actions on other things and my Family was getting Pounded into the Ground by the CITY. When every month that your at work your Parents are in court on YOUR BEHALF for the SAME FREAKING THING proving that your CAR is NOT A JUNK CAR there is a Little bit of Vindictive Attitude by the City.

Yes, their vindictiveness is a good part of what has created this situation. How can you say that I don't have any wishes for the betterment of the City though? Just because you don't see having there be fewer incidents of people pulling their pants down in the middle of the street being an improvement, doesn't mean that I don't. Just because you don't agree with my concerns about the drain on taxpayers to fund the City's failing, over saturated declining market business doesn't mean that I don't think a change there could end up making Streator a better place. Unless of course there is something that makes you think that you are the sole person authorized by someone to judge what is for the betterment of our community. I haven't been asking for them to build interstates or bring huge corporations here. I have been asking that they write fair laws, that laws be enforced, that they follow our laws, that they be more business friendly, etc. I have been asking for very realistic things that are totally within their power. Instead they write ridiculously over restrictive ordinances (like their snow removal ordinance), then they don't enforce it, don't follow it themselves, yet keep it on the books to continue to make perspective businesses have to worry about huge expenses or the threat of their daily fines.

Please don't assert that you had a legal vehicle with plates parked in your driveway and code enforcement was hounding you. If you had the car parked or "stored" in your backyard or any place that doesn't obey city codes, then you would have been in violation. In the first year the city went with an effort to clean up the city, 500 cars were removed from back yards. Just because some owners didn't mind them being in their yards, plenty of neighbors complained about them. There had to have been a violation or code wouldn't have written you up. If you didn't comply, you would have had to appear in court. What do you find wrong with that? I'll bet your neighbors didn't complain.

How about the part "continues to try to..."? From what I've read on here, Kyle is the only that "continues to try to...". I haven't seen Willy "continue to try to..." anything where it relates to Kyle. After years of my talking about it being wrong for our City leaders to make the public think that business owners are illegal without allowing them to first face their accusers and defend themselves to the claims, Willy "continues to try to" make people believe that my family was doing something illegal. When I protested and said that it was absolutely not true and another case of the City of Streator judging people without giving them their Constitutional Rights, he did not correct himself at all or admit that we were not doing anything illegal. That leaves people(particular those with their heads so far up our City's backside) to believe that my family was illegal, therefor "continuing to try to" make people think that my family are some type of criminals. It was just a couple of months ago that he suggested violence against me. When I talked about that being wrong, he didn't come back on here and correct himself, but stood behind his feeling that I deserve some type of physical beat down. Is there some expiration date to his attempt to make people think that I just haven't been beaten up enough? Is that the same attitude that our other City leaders (who pull on the same rope in the same direction) have? Do they feel that the violence in our community is a good thing? Are they going to start selling the Streator Violence garments that promote our community as one that others should be scared to come to, like that fun, upbeat Facebook page?

Hate to Tell you Willy they where Constantly GOING after MY 92 Z34 because it was NOT moved for months at a time. Even though I had Current Tags Insurance and my father if he wanted could have taken it anyplace. He preferred his Minivan over my car easier for him to get in and out of. Code enforcement in this Town is a JOKE.

If a person has their auto parked in a legal place on their property, Code doesn't go after them. One can't park on the grass or in their front yard. Auto must be parked on gravel, cement, or blacktop on their property. No auto shall be parked in a backyard to be used for parts twenty years from now. So where were you parked? If you were legal, then you are correct, Code shouldn't have been on you or your family. One last question, was the Code being performed by the fire department or people that performed those duties prior to the fire department taking over? When the city is doing their job I shall continue stick up for them, but I don't condone harassment.
I did not condone police officers giving out Kyle's name when he complained. That was wrong and I told the Chief that.
