Officials with police-run auto-theft task forces say they're shutting down across Illinois due to state spending freezes. A bipartisan deal reached in the state Legislature last week will siphon $6 million in auto-theft task force grants to help cover a $1.6 billion hole in the state budget. Local departments pulled task force personnel almost immediately after Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner froze nonessential spending in January.

District 44 will lose another $250,000 and then when the new budget for Illinois comes out it could lose up to another $1.5 million. Rumors from Springfield say Gov may cut general state aid another 10%.

People don't blame the NEW Governor for doing what was needed for a VERY Freaking Long time. Blame the Chicago Machine and the Rest of the IL Democrats that used Budget Tricks to say the Budget was Balanced for 40 Years. BTW who has been the Speaker of the IL House for 40 Years MIKE MADIGAN. Who controls the House with Iron Grip that would make the old Hammer Tom Delay of Texas Blush it is Mike Madigan. He alone controls the Cash the Democrats need to run on and he can Cut them off if they make him mad.
What Bruce Rauner is doing is painful Yes but the state had a choice to make more Budget Tricks and even more DEBT with Quinn or hire a man to Turn the State Around. We made the Choice to Turn this State AROUND. Also before I get Ripped to Shreds by Everyone on this Board ask Mautino and Madigan just What happened to the 32 BILLION that Temp Income Tax INCREASE raised. Where in the Hell did that MONEY GO. I know to State Lawmakers Private Projects. Why because the Backlog of Bills WENT UP with the Tax Increase in Effect. So explain this to me they had and extra 15 Billion a year in Revenue and still could not pay the bills and Pensions.

Blue who has Written the Budgets for over 40 Years now and will not even Bring anything to a Vote unless he LIKES it for the last 20 years his Name is King MIKE Madigan. Anyone Remember what Mautino said in the Last Election I have watched Mike write the last 40 Years of Budgets in IL and I can not Wait until I get my TURN to do it when Mike Retires. Yeah right the only way Mad Mike is ever going to Leave Springfield is 1 of 2 ways in Handcuffs or Carried out of there in a Casket.

Pointing out who has written it in the past or who cut jobs in the past is furthering the agenda of those who run the Government.
For once, how about we ask how we cut the budget TODAY, and do it with as little pain as is humanly possible?
Obviously these SCHMUCKS are whacking things they should save for LAST, not cut first.
Has anyone ever went through the State of Illinois website and looked at just how many programs could be wiped clean without 1 thousands the pain cutting school payments would be?

Rauner is at least stepping up to the plate in his efforts to quell the budget issues...Sure wish he'd go after the $150 million tax break given to Sears Holdings so they would keep their headquarters here...Headquarters of what?...They're closing stores, and losing money at an unprecedented rate...
Here's an example - Quinn awarded this grant, Rauner is taking it back- "Rauner's order comes after a Chicago Sun-Times report that the grant (10 million) was awarded to Cinespace Chicago Film Studios for the purchase of land that wasn't for sale. Owners of six properties listed in the grant have told the newspaper that they don't plan to sell their properties."

Good point, but those who actually pull the sled in this Government need to be directed on what is important and what is not. Asking someone to honestly tell you how to cur their job isn't going to get you the results you desire.
Rauner needs to be pretty specific as to what he wants cut, otherwise we will get the same "gotta cut the schools and cops" crap.

The state could save a lot of money if they would purchase a lot if the buildings they use in Springfield instead of paying rent to cronies.

It is a well known fact that whenever government needs to cut back on spending, it is always essential services that get cut first. That way the taxpayer feels it quickly and soon cries out for tax increases...all the while the thick slabs of bacon are being doled out...all for what reason?...to buy land that is not even for sale??? WTH???
