Why Did No One Tell Illinois Drivers About This? Last updated: February 10th, 2015 1856 490
Are you being scammed by your current insurer? New policies are indicating that for years many Illinois drivers have likely overpaid on their car insurance coverage.
This is the one simple truth your car insurance company doesn’t want you to know. If you’re driving less than 45 miles/day on average and live in Illinois you may get an extremely high discount. Did you know that? Or DUI’s… if you have no DUI’s, you can get even more discounts. But do you think your auto insurance company will tell you that? Fat chance.
When Miranda entered her zip code at Insurance.Comparisons.org, she was shocked. She found out her local insurance agent was ripping her off, and she could get car insurance much cheaper.
“We managed to reduce our insurance premium by 50%! I only wish we had discovered this sooner.” Miranda exclaimed.
What Miranda did was visit an independent car insurance rate comparison website – Insurance.Comparisons.org, and entered in some basic information. Within seconds, she was shown the different rates that all of the popular insurance companies offered for the criteria she put in. And that’s when she found out she was overpaying.
Does this mean Miranda was being scammed by her former insurance agent? She would not say one way or the other, but the truth is most agents are paid on commission which means the higher your insurance premiums, the more money your agent makes. You can be sure, however, that your insurance company is not going to call you up to offer you a discount. Did you know that car insurance rates have dropped?
Comparing insurance companies is especially important now, because rates have dropped over the last year or so. In fact, thanks to new program policies, you may be able to save $100′s on your current rate.
So, what is the “One Simple Rule?” NEVER buy insurance without comparing all discounts online first. Out of the 100′s of insurers out there, only a handful will give you really big discounts. But they ARE out there, and they WANT to insure you – you just can’t find each other.
You can automatically compare auto insurance companies – it’s fast, it’s easy, and it’s FREE. Heck, it’s even fun (well, as fun as insurance can be!)
NOTE: You’re NEVER LOCKED into your current policy. If you’ve already paid your current policy, you can very easily cancel and the balance will be refunded.
A true stimulus package for the middle-class
Indeed, these insurance comparison websites are very easy to use. Customers just need to enter their zip code, and then fill out a simple & short online form. It takes less than 5 minutes, and the insurance company rates that are delivered for your side-by-side comparison are all trusted names you know. It couldn’t be any easier.
According to ComScore’s 2012 U.S. Online Auto Insurance Shopping Report, “nearly 70 percent of shoppers reported getting an online quote”. The report also found that “the online channel remains the preferred channel for customers shopping for auto insurance policies”.
In the end, it’s the smart, diligent consumer that gets the best deals. This is true when shopping for a TV, and it’s true for buying car insurance. If you just go to your local agent and have him or her write what’s available, you are probably paying too much (and also subsidizing the agent’s tropical vacation). But again, the only way to find out for sure is to be a smart consumer and look at insurance companies side by side on an independent comparisons website.

Seriously, these kind of "articles" are just a way to gather information and sell your info so you can be bombarded with nonstop telemarketing calls. While I appreciate you trying to come up with new topics, you are really just propagating spam and click bait material. This isn't helpful for anyone on Streator Online.
It's bad enough when we see this garbage on Facebook.

I have been locked and loaded with State Farm since I was 16 yrs old. They are there for you and have ALWAYS resolved my claims quickly. One time they sent some auditors to my house and....gave me more money! It was a random audit. I was happy already.

I have to switch every so many years as those good folks raise your rates, then you switch again to get a decent rate for a while ?

Thats the way our homeowners ins. is, after the tornado the adjuster came out and was replacing things we never claimed. Our 20+year old snowblower that was in our $25 used shed they gave us almost $2000 to replace it all that we werent even going to claim. The adjuster said you had it beforehand it needs replacing age and price dont matter, and yes our premiums did go up a grand total of $2.00 every 6 months, for a whopping 4 bucks a year. Seems to me, which suprised me they went more on replacement value than actual value of the ruined items.

When I had a theft & damage, they only paid 70%, UNTIL I proved I replaced the items. Some I couldn't as they were bought w/no reciepts to find OR bought them out-of-state & couldn't! I changed & Country Co. has treated me great AND the sec. has called to get me better Ins. rates too!

Blue's experience reflects my own. Country Co has been very dependable. Shortly after our move here we had another company, and following hail damage, the adjuster suggested remedies such as "I'm able to sign you a check right now, (a considerable amount) for replacing the roof, but you can get your boy there to go up there and make repairs & you'll have a good chunk of money to pocket." ( big silly grin on his face) My husband was at work, but "the boy" he'd referenced was there with me, & although he looked young at the time he was a homeowner & father of 3, so he replied. "No way! My parents want the full cost for removal & replacement of this damaged roof." That wasn't the end of the conversation, & it was a long time, & many conversations later, before the job was finally done. Like Blue said, not only have we been treated fairly by Country Co but we are given consideration & friendly service!

I havealways had country companies. Yrs ago, my home was broke into. I had replacement ins. All my jewelry, etc was stolen. They required receipts before they reimbursed. Sadly, iwas the divorced/single mom of 3 kiddos that needed to eat at the time. I wasnt able to come up with the money to replace any. Lesson learned.

As someone who is experienced in such matters, there are a couple of simple things that you can do to CYA with your insurance company... First, realize that each company has their own policies in place when it comes to replacement values...That is not determined by the adjuster, they are simply following the rules... Second, video document everything in your home and store the video in a separate location (a friend/relatives house, safe-deposit box)...This provides evidence for your insurance company, as well as gives them insight as to the condition of your items for valuation... Third, if you have the ability to do so, scan ALL receipts and store them on a USB drive...You can include jewelry appraisals, purchase agreements, etc... This also helps determine replacement value, especially if you have heirlooms or antiques that may be difficult to price...
Feel fortunate if you were afforded monies above the actual value, as this is not the norm...Most insurers will not go that far, or they will base it on current condition value, etc...Also, look deeply into your policy and the coverage it offers...Things you may think are covered, very well may not be...
