Snipe, It makes no difference what I say about Yellen's statement. You hate the Federal Reserve. You hate the fact that you were saved from losing your job, because Ben Bernake saved Capitalism from it greedy excesses. g Hey GREEKIE. How about you 'splain how Helicopter boy saved Capitalism............ This ought to be a HOOT. Capitalism and Wall street are nothing CLOSE to being the same.

Snipe doesn't like paper currency. Snipe likes gold. Not realizing that gold, like paper, was used as currency precisely because it had little other value other than to represent value. Currency though? I'm pretty sure Snipe loves currency.

Hint, what happens when you use your "Capitalism" to prevent my "Capitalism"?

Currency though? I'm pretty sure Snipe loves currency. Octavium, as usual, you have GROSSLY distorted my position. I have NEVER said I didn't like, or in the past, trust paper currency. In fact, should you pay the least bit of attention, you would find my posting saying we cannot return to a strict Gold standard without lowering our standard of living by a fair bit. That being said,we also cannot inflate out way to prosperity, which is EXACTLY, PRECISELY what we have done for around 25 years. You are probably way too young to remember the Fed saying in 1971 " Trust us, we can handle it id we decouple from Gold" I think if you investigate, you might find like every other Government function........... OOPS. BTW, Gold is just like Paper? How about them Zimbabwe notes? German Marks? I wonder if those folks would rather have paper or gold? How much paper do we use in electronics? Let me guess, you have a really kick tail PAPER necklace and ear rings? Really, you need to learn a bit more about your surroundings.

Hint, what happens when you use your "Capitalism" to prevent my "Capitalism"? Sniper, Hum, no wonder we disagree. I've argued from the viewpoint represented by the definition as expressed on Wikipedia, "Capitalism is an ECONOMIC SYSTEM and a mode of production in which trade industries, and the means of production, ARE LARGELY OR ENTIRELY OWNED AND OPERATED FOR PROFIT". You through in the term "Unfettered" use of capital. I believe that would be more of a POLITICAL SYSTEM view of capitalism. Probably better explained by the "capitalism.org"., which is dedicated to the support of the views of AYN RAND. Correct? g

Greek, is it your contention that the US runs under a Capitalist system currently?
If so, then we have our true source of disagreement.
You cannot use YOUR Capital to prevent me from using mine.

Fair enough Snipe, I seem to have misunderstood your position on the gold standard. Yes, gold does have some use, I didn't claim that it does not. What real value are ear rings and necklaces other than ornamental items? Sure, we do use gold in electronic applications, in a limited way. How many books and how much knowledge was written on gold for others to make use of?

Greek, is it your contention that the US runs under a Capitalist system currently? Let's go back and let you answer the question as to what is your definition of capitalism. The definition explained by Wikipedia, or the definition explained by "capitalism.org". g

Sniper,
I believe you always referred to U.S. dollars in the past as "Fiat Money" since we are not on the "gold standard".
Let's go back that far in history at least.

Oh, could you share with the forum the One Country in the world that best represents your definition as having the Capitalistic system closest to what you so desire?
