They are the most gentle people I have ever met. that's the exact reason they have people like Levi standing up for them . I do think some of the show is true but a lot of it is fluff for the entertainment value. I thought the drive by $hitting was hilarious............. the buggy goes by and throws the cow manure on the guy.....................

Never saw it....and I am glad I didn't....why tune into this stuff? It's a comedy, right? Complete farce? No, sadly, it fits right in with our new "facebook" American experience.

Aau,
You might want to do a little research on your own. Check out what the Amish did after some of their children were killed by a shooter in Lancaster, PA on Oct. 2, 2006.
Let us know what you learn.

An interesting aside: The Funk Family South of Bloomington has a long and rich history. They were not only famous as an early innovator of hybrid seed corn, they were famous for their Percheron draft horses. They traveled to Europe and bought and brought home the finest animals available. They are pretty famous in that niche. There was a "Funk" farm in the Manville area that I believe were into that too. Maybe the elderly or original family? My brother used to work for them in grade school.

CP, I believe they are referring more to the hierarchical nature of the Amish life, much like the Mafia is, rather than any form of crime.

This is what I know from delivering a few loads to the Amish in the late 90's around Lancaster. 1st Do NOT think that the Amish do not like Technology. I delivered Generators to PLENTY of their houses they may not be hooked to the grid however they have their OWN POWER SOURCE. They use the Methane their Cattle Produce and run the Generators that way. Non Violent yeah right 2 of them went at it when I was making a Delivery at one farm. The guy that was Knocked out at the end of the Fight well he ended up with his BEARD SHAVED CLEAN OFF to mark him as a unworthy Person in this other mans eye. They have Cash and use it to get out of most legal Problems. When your bills are marked COD and the Amish man your delivering to pays you in 100 Dollar bills for a Generator that costs 30 Freaking Grand your a little surprised.

LOL, MM ain't that the truth.
I remember my parents walking in with cash to buy the new car ( every 2 years no less ), and how much they hated borrowing I think 15K they didn't have to pay cash for the farm......
When I bought the Ramcharger from a local dealership, they were clearly freaked out over around 3 grand in cash...... So I deposited it and wrote them a check......... Makes no sense to me, I like cash.
