The website reboot Illinois has a listing of how many DUI arrests are made in a city for the year 2013 the last year they have stats for. Our boys in Blue did a grand total of 48 or an average of 2 per officer that is on the force. Now with all downtown bars and no taxi in this town you think that they are missing a few.

Maybe that would be another good investigative report for our newspaper, but I do see many more DUI arrests in Streator under the Sheriff's postings in the police log than SPD.
When I was trying to work WITH our City leaders to get things cleaned up so that we might be able to have a movie palace in the area, I called many times to report people staggering to their vehicles and weaving down the street, but it never resulted in any DUIs that I know of, I did watch the newspaper for them.
I became convinced many years ago from seeing the response of our City that there are some major problems here. When an officer called offenders over to tell them who is complaining about the laws being broken, it was pretty obvious to me.
I think we have some good officers, but despite tax increases for citizens, a lack of funding obviously keeps us from having enough on the streets (as per Mayor Lansford). I believe it is more of an upper management policy problem that we should look to our Mayor for answers to.
There are laws in place making it illegal to serve anyone who is already intoxicated, but there are also gambling laws that make pull tabs and sports betting illegal too.
Bar customers seem to be exempt from most enforcement from our City though.

Laslle county is ranked 6th in the state. With an average of 5 per officer.
Our officers are busy answering calls for people p!ssing in alleys.

All I am saying is with the Number of Bars Downtown that more people should be getting hammered for DUI in this town. However this towns POLICE refuse to do anything that would require Paperwork it seems. Hell here is how Screwed up city hall is my mother Sold her house Last Year gave the City the NEW OWNERS Name and Address as Required by the Vacant House Ordinance and yet 2 weeks ago she GOT A TICKET FROM THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS that she had Garbage in the backyard of her house that she WAS NOT THE OWNER OF.
Sorry but I see people near my house that is by a School Blitzed out of their Skulls open containers in their hands and they are driving their cars all over town. Called the SPD has no Balls to stop crimes in this town anymore.
