Allow me just one final thought on this subject. Especially to MnM. Those of us who chose to serve in a war,(unpopular as it was) or put on a lawman's badge and gun, or to lawfully carry a concealed weapon (when necessary) don't do so because we are "trigger-happy gunslingers" looking for some "action". We do so to protect ourselves AND our fellow citizens. There is no doubt in my mind that I would try to come between You and a person who was doing you and your family harm. It is sad that a few irresponsible gun owners make (a sometimes deadly) mistake in the carrying of a weapon. The trouble with thinking that crime will stop if all citizens turn in their guns, is a fallacy, to say the least. There are hundreds of instances every day where crime was prevented and lives saved by the intervention of people willing to step in and DO SOMETHING, instead of letting the violent criminal have his way. A concealed weapon is TOOL you hope you never HAVE TO USE!

Landlords will not say no to section 8. Let's say they have a home or apt for rent for $500.00 a month and A person not on section 8 will pay that amount. Now a person on section 8 rents it out, the landlord will Jack the rent up to $1,000 a month where taxpayers pay half And landlord still getting $500 a month from the renter. this is the problem with section 8. Landlords do not care who they rent to as long as they are making money.

Landlords do not care who they rent to as long as they are making money. Only your slum landlords don't care whom they rent their homes too. But there are Landlords that are picky to whom they rent too. I guarantee, if I was renting out a home/apt./ condo/room of whatever, I would not want someone there that is selling drugs, or not going to keep house or land clean. Yes, Streator has many slum landlords. But there are a few that are really good landlord. I've had three landlords that were really good people. One has past away and the other two are not renting properties out any longer. I also had a landlord that was a slum land lord and he is also now past away. I don't have to worry about renting any longer at least until either I decide to sell my house or past away myself. But as a owner of a house, still have to worry about what type of people that the neighbors rent too.

I would be more worried about who your neighbors sell their house to. Not easy to kick a home owner out of the neighborhood then it would be To kick a renter out that is causing trouble. You can have a home owner that is always in trouble with police.

A concealed weapon is TOOL you hope you never HAVE TO USE! First off, thank you for your service to us and our country. But on a side note, as a private citizen with a CC, your only duty and is to protect you and your family from an immediate threat.. It really isn't your duty to protect your fellow citizen. You may stumble upon a situation such as the guy who came upon the aftermath of the Gabby Giffords shooting and tried to restrain the people who actually were restraining the shooter. How do you know that the guy you just shot, just finished chasing down a guy who had just raped or killed the first guys wife or daughter. You have just shot a "victim" rather than a criminal, because you thought you were "saving" the guy who was being attacked?

Do Section 8 home owners pay extra taxes or higher insurance fees because they are responsible for the homes safety issues if a renter gets injured while in the home?

To "Dog" : Your welcome. Using your weapon is NOT the first thing you do, it's the last resort. You have to assess each situation on its own merit. As for trying to intervene in a violence situation, yeah, it could be very risky, there again, YOU make the decision. If it's a guy beating on another guy and they're evenly matched, You either M.Y.O.B., or call the cops. If it's a guy beating up a woman, or a kid, or a senior, then I believe you should come to their aid,....but that doesn't mean SHOOTING first! You can come up with all kinds of "what if this, or what if that" scenarios, but the bottom line is YOU have to decide to intervene or not, and if you can live with never getting involved when you could have helped, that's between you and your conscience. That's the end of my commentary on this subject for now. God help us All.
