You can expect to see an increase in police chases after the recent shootings of innocent people by cops. alot of people are starting to have trouble trusting cops. Some are afraid if they pull over to them, that they maybe the next victim murdered by police.

Bumping for helencrump to show her that people here have indeed said that violence is acceptable. It is interesting to note though that some of the votes seem to have changed.

Lol. Majestic cracks me up. How bout you? Yes, I crack myself up too when I show that you just spew false crap. Obviously people do say the violence is acceptable, don't they? Since our City leaders caved in to the liquor license holders instead of supporting their new City Manager's requested solution for better enforcement, without even presenting any other solution, doesn't it seem that they also see the increasing violence as being acceptable?

Is this the same city manager that the dude from India complained about and you jumped on the bandwagon saying he wouldn't be good for Streator?

Yes, it is the City Manager that I had expressed my concerns was just a puppet for Lavasa to deny people their rights. Didn't our City leaders pay him the upper end of salaries for communities our size because he was supposed to have professional experience and training? Isn't it a shame that our City leaders didn't support his solution to the increasing violence problems here instead of caving in to what the liquor license holders want? Doesn't it seem that they just see the new City Manager as their puppet instead of backing his "expertise" that tax payers are paying so highly for? Too bad that they don't have any solution for the increasing violence problems, don't you agree? With 70 years of not being able to support a movie theatre, but 58 rubber stamped liquor licenses and a waiting list so long they needed to start charging fees to manage it, wouldn't you think that they could at least come up with a way to make sure our laws are followed so that we might have a better chance of having a movie theatre?

I don't care if we have a movie theater. If I want to see a movie bad enough I'll drive. But 99 out of 100 times I wait for it to be on HBO.

Do we seriously need to have our own "purge"? I have an evil twin inside of me who would really like to come out and play. True Gemini that I am. This thread was about violence in our society. Not a movie theater. Violence should not be acceptable in any society. Save it for the big screen and books. One question though, seeing as I'm not from here. What does it mean to "wind somebody like a timex"?

Yes, I'm not surprised that you don't care if we have a theatre. It has seemed for a long time that you have been much more concerned about your bar owner friend still being able to create the negative impacts in the area from the illegal activities. Many people do travel to other communities for movies, and eat at their restaraunts, shop, buy gas, and support their sales tax base. Meanwhile our Mayor says that we can't afford to have any more officers on our streets as they keep raising our property taxes Thanks for confirming that you just don't care.

What does it mean to "wind somebody like a timex"? It is a reterence to the old Timex ads, where watches were abused to show that they were resiliant. Willy (former Council Member/City leader) didn't like what I have to say and couldn't seem to verbally express his opinion on the matter so he tried to make it seem that there was something wrong with me because I wasn't born and raised here (some people here seem to think because they were they are somehow better than others) and that I missed out on some type of local sicial training. He said that if I would have gone to Streator schools I would have been treated like a Timex, given playground attitude adjustments/butt tappings, turned into either a boxer or track star, etc. It seems that there is an attitude here with some people that it is acceptable for individuals to judge others and decide what punishments they feel others deserve. It seems that some don't honor freedom of speech or respect for others and resort to violence when they don't want to hear what others have to say. Not all though, one Councilman who asked my opinion at the public forum portion of a Council Meeting and then threatened legal action when I gave it, used a different type of intimidation to try to strip my of my First Ammendment Right. Happy Fourth to you, and don't forget to practice your rights that so many sacraficed so greatly to provde.
