I am proud to share that my daughter Summer Stueckrad was one of hundreds of teens to be seclected to learn about the student ambassador program started by president Eisenhower and to see if she could meet their criteria. Out of the hundreds of teens in this state only 40 will represent IL. Great news Summer was one of the 40 going. After a lengthy interview process she was chosen to represent the U.S.A. ,Illinois and her home town Streator. While on her trip she will be learning about different cultures and teaching about her culture, doing community service work in the countries she is going to, and while there she will get high school credits as well as college credits. There are costs to the ambassadors so she will be fund raising, working and crafting her way there. If you are interested in helping our ambassador with raising funds, a donation or work please contact her at 815-510-6041

Take time to read each whole article.

Congratulations to your daughter and you for raising a bright and outstanding student. Praises to her educators for assisting in her leadership skills and knowledge.
Congratulations to another Streator girl, I saw her name on a Mediacom Commercial for being awarded a scholarship.
I don't know this girl and don't want to take away from the praises for your daughter, just wanted to point out; parents are not all giving up on their children's futures and the education system in Streator.

I have a friend who has had two of his kids involved in the "People to People" program. In both cases, it was a very positive experience for his kids.

When my daughters got their people to people info, they both wanted to participate in the worst way. I had never heard of anyone fund raising for that group in this area, and as a single mom paying for one in college, i told them no. After the young gentleman that did it a few years ago was having fundraisers, i wished I'd have let them do it.
Good luck with your goal, and enjoy your experience.

Or should the fund-raisers state quite clearly and honestly that this organization is a "for-profit" entity and that the donors are just donating to a really neat vacation for their kid? Hmmmmm...? Skip the donation avenue and the half-truths...if you can't afford to send your kid, throw this outfit's solicitations in the trash, IMO.

Does anyone know the boy that raised funds to do this a couple years ago? Did he talk about his experience afterward?
