I commend these type of efforts. I see it as a great way to try to support the community. greekgod might point out that it could create more traffic through the store to create more sales, or inquire if the full retail price of the new dvd will be deducted on an income tax form, but none of that matters to me. I think the more important point is that it is about feeding hungry people. I think the good feelings of just being able to drop off a larger amount of food is more rewarding than claiming whether it is a donation from the business or the individuals who take home a free dvd. So don't let it bother you if greek attacks the business for the way that it donates. It is a good thing. Thank you and the owner for your efforts. I hope that it gets a lot of participation.

dive,
This is a good example of one of the things that does make me happy about Streator.
I feel that there are a lot of good caring people here that will not only stop in to support this food drive, but from my experience I bet some of them insist on also paying for that dvd on top of their donation to try to thank the business owner for his efforts to improve our community.

We would not need food drives if the dumbacrats would be more business friendly and quit running corporations out of illinois and the united states.

I agree in large part with CS, but there will always be needy among us, but the #'s we have in the U.S today is totally outside of what it ought to be. And I honestly do believe governmental policies are a big reason for our high #'s of unemployed.

We would not need food drives if the dumbacrats would be more business friendly and quit running corporations out of illinois and the united states. It is not a democrat problem. It is not a republican problem. It's sadly part of everyday life. It's really getting old you referring to democrats as dumbacrats. I or others don't refer to republicans as neo cons. Geesh. Cityslicker I hope you don't end up on the other end of the food chain someday. You might have to take a handout from a democrat. Hope you like crow.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, Boy Scout Troop 775 of Streator will collect food by going door to door to help the hungry in the community. All food collected will be taken to the Park Presbyterian Church in Streator.
Items needed include: canned meats/fish, fruit juice, soups, canned fruit, canned vegetables, peanut butter, or any non-perishable food item. No outdated or opened items, please.
This food collection is part of Scouting For Food, an effort by packs and troops around the nation to fight hunger.
Troop 775 is chartered to Park Presbyterian Church. In keeping with the values of scouting, Boy Scouts devote themselves to community service.
For more information on this collection, call Boy Scout Troop 775 activity chairman, Rich Lawless, 815-672-2096.
