I think it is the same time as last year,4pm-6pm or 7pm. I remember the city moving it to an earlier time for safety reasons.

I found the downtown trick or treating. October 25, 2014 Annual Downtown Trick or Treat parade for youngsters in their Halloween costumes. Prizes awarded. Sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association.

Every year I say this...
Halloween should be on the last Saturday of October every year. It could start at 4 and end at 8.
This would help the little ones getting around. The parents don't have to run home from work to get the kids ready. The downtown association can have their Halloween activities earlier that day, from noon till 3?? The little ones can have a nice, long day of showing off in their costumes and then being done at 6 or earlier?
There will also be a little darkness in there for those Halloween traditionalists.
Why have it during the week when everyone is working? Sure, some people work on Saturdays, but most are off.

I agree oldtimer. every year the city has to wait to announce the times while the rest of the towns around us have set times.

I think trick or treating should be changed for kids to visit businesses only for candy. Too many nut jobs in town to even think about letting children go to homes to take candy from them. Never know what these people would put in them to harm or kill your kids. Could lace them "candy" up with some kind of drug and parents would never know it until it is too late to save them from dying from the drugs. I think it is just safer to take them to businesses then it would to peoples homes. Just too many new people from the Chicago area moving here, that you cannot trust.

I remember needles in various pieces of candy were found by parents back in the mid 1960s in Streator. my advice is to stay in your neighborhood or visit just family or friends on that night. why should a young kid`s happy memories be ruined by a few ignorant acts by worthless adults?
