When I was on a trip to Bronson, Missouri, there was a Five and Dime store. I would like to see one around this area. And I do not mean in Streator, just in the general area. Like Ottawa, Pontiac, or even maybe in Streator. Dwight ect. Would anyone on here shop in one?

I grew up going to the Ben Franklin store in Henry. Wish we had one of those around again too

I thought inflation hit the 5 and dime and that's why they are called 'Dollar Stores' now. We have 3 of them. I kind of like Dollar Tree. Everything is $1 only. Best deal on Bleach in town.(if it is in stock) So Cap'n, what is the main differences between a 5 and dime and today's dollar stores? I get quite a few cleaning items there.

Since you enjoy attacking my son for how he ran his business, why don'y you show us how it's done by opening the five and dime store that you want so much? Maybe you could make it a five and dime mechanic shop, if your services are worth that much. Willy sure did spill the beans, didn't he? It looks like he got them all over the City's face.

What all do they sell at five & dime stores? there cant be much on the shelves for that price. just by looking in the dollar tree you can tell with inflation not many things remain for under a dollar.............

Same thing as any other dollar store. I think that CP was just trying to start a conversation and to have a different thread on here instead of Kyle this and that. Have you ever gone on vacation somewhere, and the town you are in has something that you wish was around the area you live in? I have been places and would like to see that business around our area or wonder how it would take off. Maybe that is what the point is. Just my take on this thread.

Where would be the best location in Streator for a Five & Dime store--Kroger Plaza?

Where would be the best location in Streator for a Five & Dime store--Kroger Plaza? Even though I never really thought about it, more and likely Kroger's Plaza. Only due to it seems like a lot of stores are moving North of town. Just like Ottawa.
