From what I understand Ebola can be transmitted more easily (perhaps with just a sneeze or a cough) rather than intimately or through blood contact. bigdipper, Bigdipper, Perhaps you need to change channels and learn what the CDC has to say how Ebola is transmitted. Get back to us when you get a bit of knowledge on the subject. g With all due respect and not talking politics, I really dont put a lot of faith in the CDC to have a handle on what is happening. I watched the head of the CDC on the Today show a few days ago and he talked about how they were 100% it will be stopped here and said they had a few (14 or 16) people who they were watching who came in contact with that guy from Dallas. Later that day or the next, that number had gone to possibly 100. Same with this other virus, I believe they are doing what they can but I dont think they really know what will happen.I dont even know if the virus that is infecting these kids is a result of the influx of illegals, but it seems more than a coincidence that both have occurred at the same time. Shouldnt we at least put a stop to people coming over the southern border until we determine where this virus came from and how to stop it? Greek, would you be willing to be near an Ebola patient and have him sneeze or cough in your vicinity? I sure as the heck wouldnt.

Who do I trust if not In the CDC or the WHO? I guess in this case I will have put my trust in God. Do you believe it cant be transmitted by cough or sneeze?

I do believe Ebola "cant be transmitted by cough or sneeze". Do you have any reliable scientifically study to demonstrate otherwise? I didn't think so. g

"dog" Ebola was first identified in South Africa in 1976, check it out. There has been plenty of time for epidemiologist to learn how the disease is transmitted. Now, somehow, after Obama became President it can somehow transmitted by a "cough and or a sneeze"! Nice try! g

It might be lifesaving time spent.

Golly, you can only get it thru "Intimate contact", and they are starting to screen at Airports starting Monday.......
Guess the mile high club must be really getting busy, no?

They are screening all passengers arriving from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and guinea. Not every flying passenger. Seems like a reasonable measure to take.

Greek, I am the first to admit that I am no expert. I did as you suggested and checked online for a little more information. This is from the CDC. So mucous fluids might include 'spittal' or 'snot'. That can be expelled through the body by......sneezing or coughing......no? It says it would need to be through an open portal like a wound, eyes, ears, mouth or etc. It also says that it includes sweat as a bodily fluid. It also says it could be passed through infected objects. Say an infected person just wipes at their nose with their hand and then uses the door knob to the rest room of a public place. You have a hangnail or a slinter that caused an open wound. Is it possible to get infected? I surely don't know. I am not sure the experts do either. I am pretty sure Greek God doesn't either. I do know it sounds like a different critter than HIV/AIDS and is transmitted a little differently. It seems like there could be a greater chance of transmission. Bigdipper. You should have stopped after your post on what the CDC reported. After that you are all about fear and rumor on what I don't know and neither do you. Golly dam*, maybe the vector is an "ice cream cone" purchase in Livingston County, IL. Tell you what, ice cream man, I think the CDC and the WHO has a much better understanding of how Ebola is contracted than you. Don't worry though, you still have you gun, you're safe. g

Sniper, Could you be a bit more specific? Nice try, but "Intimate contact" does not mean Ebola is transmitted by intercourse. Now back to your bunker. g

I read this on yahoo this morning: DALLAS (AP) —" A Texas health care worker who was in full protective gear when they provided hospital care for an Ebola patient who later died has tested positive for the virus and is in stable condition, health officials said Sunday." Full protective gear on a health worker who is trained and they still get the virus, I think the CDC and the WHO, DONT have a handle on Ebola. Do you have a scientific study that explains why a full protected trained health worker STILL contracted the Ebola virus? Maybe you think the same thing we do but downplay it to keep the public calm, who knows.

I think the CDC and WHO have a pretty good handle on Ebola. There have been two, just two cases reported in the US and they are directly connected. Remember SARS and the avian flu? These diseases were suppose to sweep the planet but what happened? The diseases ran there courses and eventually they faded away. These diseases are much easier to spread than Ebola and they were still contained. Stoking fear and panic for whatever reason isn't solving anything except raising people's blood pressures or perhaps swinging a few votes in the up coming elections. Unless you have visited west Africa or have been in close contact with someone who has, you have about as great a chance of contracting Ebola as you do the bubonic plague. As for how the health care worker contracted the disease, I would probably say it was due to error on their part. Believe it or not even professionals make mistakes. Trained pilots crash planes, skilled woodworkers cut off fingers, and yes sometimes medical professionals contract dangerous diseases.
