I'm not following you, blue. I thought she meant that the Ebola virus was bound to make its way here, sooner or later. And, with all of the international travel there is these days, that's true. I also took it to mean, educate yourself on the symptoms, how it's spread, etc. Am I missing something? Many are giving false information. And yes, helen, that is exactly what I meant. Panic is not education, and it seems many are doing just that. Good grief. It was ambiguos (sp?) and could have meant several things. I was refering to peeps sharing or discussions. I said, many have seen, heard or even educated themselves on it & were just discussing it, as was I.

And that is why it will be difficult to have the massive outbreak and deaths that you see in Africa right now. This person has been interviewed for his movement, and those that he might've exposed are being monitored/quarantined to prevent further exposure.
The incubation period is up to almost 3 weeks. But, when you contract it, you are violently ill. Hence it being difficult to pass it on without others knowing you are sick.
Stay away from violently ill people. Especially those that travel all over. WASH your hands THOROUGHLY. When I'm out of my own home, I wash them thoroughly, and then once again, just to be sure. Don't touch your face. At all. Your nose, mouth and eyes are portals to the body. These simple steps are the first line of protection to avoiding A virus or bacteria. Avoid touching vomit, urine and feces, blood and spit. If someone vomits, urinates, poops, bleeds or spits on you, don't ignore it. (A little tongue in cheek there, but, yes, it could happen)
The main reason it's spreading so fast, is many of those villages are unaware, they often have untreated water supplies, and little if any medical attention. As bad as you think the US is, be grateful you were born here.

Jim, if you read those guidelines, it's for travelers who are traveling to the 3 countries with the outbreak. Those countries are doing the best they can, but, their sanitation is not what you find in other countries. Again, be informed, use good hand washing, and don't panic.

They believe, this is how it started, in the first place. Sadly, one can be exposed and not be ill for days and days. Then and only then, can it be spread, is the way I understood it.
