It is for Drug Awareness. From what I understand each Tombstone is to represent Someone that has overdosed on the Drug of Their chose here in Town.

You should've pulled over and stopped to check it out if you were interested. Unless of course you were in a hurry like the jackbutt behind you.

I was just going to put a thread up regarding this event. I noticed the tombstones in the City Park a few days ago, but in flying by didn't get a chance to read the sign with them. I was just informing a very great old friend of mine who lost her son last year to a heroin overdose about this event. She has asked me to accompany her to this hard emotional tribute, and yes of course I will. I know that this will be so hard for her to do, but in a sense will be therapeutic too though as well for her and others who have suffered through a tragedy like this. She needs others to share her grieving with who have experienced the same tragedy's. Hopefully messages will be heard, and people who's loved ones and friends have succumbed to this horrible drug will find some peace, and more understanding then because of. Sad...just sooooooooooooooooooooo sad......................... M

I just wonder when the HELL this particular drug ended up being so prevalent in our town?? IT used to be that heroin was the predominant drug for Ottawa, and Streator was loaded with crack heads? I don't hear much now regarding crack in this town...now it's all about the heroin...has that been replaced now? We had a crack house right across the street from us many years ago...and now we have a heroin dealer who lives back at home with his parents on this block....WTF?!?!?! Our next door neighbors, and neighbors across the street continue to get license plate numbers and pictures of vehicles that continually come to that house for their "fix", in which YES all are forwarded to the police. And I am talking about ALL walks of life too from what I've been told of and shown...nice vehicles...a brand NEW Cadillac Escalade came and purchased drugs from there.......................... SAY WHAT This CRAP has got to stop, and I feel the more people made aware of this horrible situation, the better. God help everyone either addicted to, or knows anyone that is................... This is a terrible battle......................... M

It's popular because its cheap. $20 a bag. My opinion.........not just because it's cheap..but more so because these friggin doctors put people that have been in some pain management on that oxi-contin (sp) CRAP and they get addicted TO that crap...then it doesn't manage their pain anymore, so they resort to heroin. I BLAME the doctors for sooooooooooooo much of this addiction!!!!!! They in a sense are no better then the drug dealers in this country....because they push sooooooo many of them. I get so sick and tired of hearing about a "new" drug that is FDA approved, and yes big time promoted...only to see months later advertisements on TV by lawyers................."If you or a loved one have taken the drug "_______" and have experienced loss of, or DEATH because of, you may be entitled to money with a lawsuit...call US now" REALLY, REALLY? Sickening, but alas, reality. BUMP....TTT.......................... I don't know if my friend is "emotionally set" to attend this as of yet I'm still waiting to hear................ BUT I did hear from others that tomorrows speakers are suppose to be quite exceptional, and highly educated on this subject. M

Save some of the blame for the the worthless police chief, he is nonexistent, except for photo opportunities. You might be able to get a glimpse of him , if your unlucky. He'd rather be fishing, than running a police department.

Andy spent many days fishing with Opie, but because parents parented, teachers were allowed to discipline, and people respected others property, he wasnt expected to raise the towns children or the adults, either!
Heroin is a huge problem that's seeped into small towns everywhere. It takes everyone's involvement to change things.
