I have to laugh about the conversations. M+M you are right. What really gets me are the ones that say things about retiree's . Just in case you don't know you will be one . One of those days you will be one lol Many many of generations of retiree's have been here in this town, in which pretty much we all do reflect that. I am a fourth generation of family names here in this town, and now there are a sixth and a seventh too as well. So, am I proud to say that I am, yes most definitely....are things here in Streator any different then things in any other smalltown U.S.A ??.................... more then likely NOT. M

What I have to shake my head at is the constant refrain that we need new blood in the city council, instead of old forgives, that want to keep things as they are, and not accept changing times. And then go on to cite everything that streator used to have. Totally disregarding that those things have changed in every small town usa. Talk to anyone from another small town, and you will hear the same complaints! Asking for new blood is one thing. But, the issues they face are the same. Until you get past that, you will only be disappointed in that new blood you so desire.

Even tho, we have lost much, I continue to support what is here in my town. Love those mom and pop stores. Not like the current man running for governor. I know, take it to the political side. I just couldn't resist. Another billionaire, that cares less about the little guy.

So given Quinn's track record, you will vote for keeping things as they are?

I agree dog..........we have seen what Quinn has promised and lied about in his term. I haven't really figured out why rauner wants to be the governor since he has everything in life he could want. becoming the governor of this corrupt state would be a real headache for anyone. maybe he really does care about Illinois and the problems we have. time will tell what his motive is if he is elected in November.

It used to be that being successful was a good thing. Now being a "community organizer" is. Too bad most of them would starve without successful peoples money.

Let's get a proven businessman in office. We are all little guys. At least maybe he can help get the state on the right financial path... Quinn knows how to spend money but has no business trying to generate money.

The state is poor. Let's get a proven businessman in office. I take exception to this concept. This state isn't poor, it has a spending problem. Think along the terms of a new lottery winner, plenty of money, so spending like no tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and they are surprised there is no money.......they aren't poor, just lack the discipline that would have kept them wealthy had they had just a wee bit of discipline. Of course, Politicians and Children don't usually react well when discipline is applied. That's why we need someone like Rauner, to bring discipline.

If Rauner gets in, Madigan will go away along with the Demo controlled House. Also, both the private and public sector unions will gladly accept his discipline. There are some people, however, who believe that Illinois "ain't ready for reform."

Job, don't think I am all optimistic.
They are going to have to be cut off at the knees, something Rauner isn't capable of.
However, as the old Chinese proverb says, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Rauner is just the best looking nag at the glue factory.

I did not know he owned part of the Steelers. He's a successful businessman. How is that not a plus?
